Nintendo Wii: Sonic And The Secret Rings Bathing In Simplicity

One of the most exciting Wii exclusives set to make an appearance on the console next year would in my opinion have to be Sonic And The Secret Rings.

Sonic Team’s Yojiro Ogawa recently sat down for an interview with French website Gamekult and revealed that simplicity alone is set to play a major factor in Sonics debut on the Wii stating rather controversially that he believed “deep gameplay and big adventures don’t suit the Wii philosophy.”

Ogawa then went on to reveal that Sonics super charged adventure is set to span 70 missions which the average gamer should be able to race through within ten hours, though intrepid players will have the option to accomplish bonus content and subsequently receive additional medals.

In regards to Sonic: The Secret Rings intriguing control methods Ogwata stated that the team initially wanted the game to control like previous 3D incarnations of the Sonic series, but once put into practice the frantic and relentless pace of the game began to tire players out far too quickly, therefore the company decided to simplify their ideas.

During the extensive interview talk turned to the constantly intriguing topic of downloadable content, with Ogwata stating it is a possibility, but for the time being the development team is concentrating solely on the main game. Now if only we could somehow convince them to include those obligatory adrenaline fueled online races…
