The head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, has recently taken part in an extensive interview to celebrate the iconic franchise’s 35th anniversary. One thing that fans of the spiky blue hedgehog have wanted is the ability to play older Sonic games on modern hardware as a lot of the games are locked behind their original platforms. Mr. Iizuka says that he wants every Sonic the Hedgehog game to work on modern hardware. How long it will take for this to happen remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.

Isnt this the guy that said no plans for sonic adventure 1&2 or remakes of them on modern consoles? And please no, no sonic and the black knight or sonic and the secret rings on modern consoles, keep those two buried.

Remakes and ports are completely different. If we got a remake the original SA1 and 2 would never come to modern hardware

While your self reflection is good, Frost, do also keep in mind that the person you first replied to was actually being toxic with how they behave towards Sonic fans (or “fanboys” as they called them) simply for liking certain games. The pot was calling the kettle black, so to speak. All you did was call them out on their behavior.

A remake is different from a port. A port is just a previous version of a game being brought to new/modern platforms with few to no tweaks (think of the Mario Galaxy games on Switch- they’re just the Wii games with a little graphical touch-up and changes to button icons one would see in the game). A remake would be like what Square Enix has done with the Final Fantasy VII Remake in the past half a decade (different battle system, plot changes, etc.).
I mean, clearly they know that the Adventure/DX games are beloved when they made those references in the third Sonic movie. I wouldn’t say otherwise if they weren’t there. Oh, and Sonic X Shadow Generations with the boss references to Adventure 2.
Alright, so here are the top 3 games. I want ported onto modern consoles (mainly Switch 2):
Sonic Dream Team- potentially, one of the most amazing sonic games ever made is locked in apple arcade, and I think it’s time it was sprung.
The Rush Duology- yes, I said duology, because colors DS doesn’t have a playable blaze, which means it does not count.
Sonic adventure, 1 and 2- 2 of the most popular games sonic team has ever made, and Nintendo fans have been locked out for heaven knows how long
These are the top games I want to see in modern consoles.
Sonic R. One of the best Sonic Racing games of all time but it still needs to be added to modern consoles and I want to see It happened.
3D Blast. It hasn’t gotten a rerelease yet and I think it’s time for it to have one and let new Sonic fans or old ones experience it on any modern platforms by making it into a collection. It does has a good story and soundtrack but it lacks on playable characters.
Sonic Unleashed. Yeah it should get a remaster for once because the gameplay and the graphics looks so realistic and intense. Sonic Colors got a remaster why not unleashed? I want to see it be put in place for it real soon. (No dimps development company required or be involved with it)
Well if he wanted this to happen then him and his team should bring Sonic R or 3D Blast in modern hardware. I’m not holding my breath on it.

Remake Adventure 1, 2 and Heroes with the 4Kids cast that’s all you need to do Iizuka but for some reason you’re against it.
Hopefully they do it with the 4Kids cast and also make it uncensored like the original Jap version.
There’s a bunch of scenes they removed from the Eng version like when Eggman talks about Rouge’s large breasts. Lmaooo..
