The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma currently has a case of the nerves as the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake draws ever closer. Mr. Aonuma says that he is nervous about how the game will be received which is natural given the revered nature of the original game on the Nintendo 64. Talking about the future of the Zelda franchise Mr. Aonuma said that he’s “very interested” to see what younger staff members will imagine for future Zelda games and that he is “extremely happy” to offer his guidance.

“I’m all nervous about releasing the remake of ‘Ocarina’ because I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, I can’t stop thinking about it,”

“It’s thanks to these young people, by thinking about how to adapt the game in the best possible way, how to make it fun once you have the controls in your hands, that this remake came into being.”

“I’m very interested to see what the younger staff will imagine” for future titles, he said, adding that he was “extremely happy” to offer his guidance so they can “think together” about the next Zelda.

    1. I’m actually happy they ditched the lame BOTW formula they sucked the dick of for two damn games and the other spin offs so im happy it’s back to how it should be.

      1. It’s just the Zelda cycle, if we keep getting new linear Zelda games, fans will start begging to go back to the open world set up, and then people will want to go back to the linear.

      2. Looking to the future, instead of living in the past :')

*the superior, Game of the Year winning formula that saved the series after the objectively boring linearity of Skyward Sword almost killed it stone dead.

        Fixed it for you :)

  1. Very, very ballsy for him and Nintendo to do it. Props to them. Its a fine line, and not everyone was going to be happy no matter what you did.

  2. All I can say is it does look a lot more well designed than the Unreal remakes (no shade to CryZENx, shoutouts to him for continuing to develop the recreation until now!)

  3. Raising those junior devs right, on the classics. Similar in fashion to when Zelda team made Wind Waker HD in prep for BotW dev, so is expect some permutation of this presentation to show up in Zelda ‘28

  4. I just hope there is more to the game than just being 1:1 and they are just keeping it a surprise. Either way, I’m stoked

    1. The stock price isn’t the flex you think it is.

Remember: The Sony Group’s stock rallied after the news that they would be cutting their physical footprint and selling their games as digital-only starting in 2028.

  5. He’s either humblebragging in that unique Japanese way or downplaying himself in deference to his idol Miyamoto. The Breath of the Kingdom duology outsold the rest of the series (Ocarina included) combined.
