Final Fantasy Resonance won’t have Switch to Switch 2 upgrade & save data incompatible

Art work for Final Fantasy Resonance

Final Fantasy Resonance was revealed during the Nintendo Direct and looks absolutely fabulous but if you purchase the game on the Nintendo Switch and later decide to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version you will be out of luck. There’s no upgrade path from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 and most importantly your saved data for the Nintendo Switch version won’t transfer over if you purchase Final Fantasy Resonance for Nintendo Switch 2. This seems to be a reoccurring thing with Square Enix releases and hopefully it eventually gets sorted.

  1. I really don’t see the big deal, just buy it for the one you have. If you have a switch 2 you wouldn’t but the switch 1 version and if you got a switch 1 you can’t play the switch 2 version. That’s 1 & 2 players both catered for.

      1. heres an idea. dont switch. if you think youre going to get a switch 2 then wait till you do and get that version. If you have an original switch and just cant wait to play, then get the S1 version and deal with it. its not a loss. this is a non issue

  2. to first poster, that is not true. i have bought several S1 games to play on my S2 because they’re full game on S1 and GKC on S2

    1. Yeah. This is pretty much it. I was going to get Resonance on Switch 2, but it was a GKC. I then found out there was a Switch version and at least pre-ordered that one. Didn’t know they would give it the Octopath Traveler 0 treatment. Plenty of games I want are fully on the card though, such as Orbitals and Muramasa: Revenant Blades.

  3. Weird, like why does this keep happening with SW2 games? But at least I haven’t run into a problem, I am playing most of these games for the first time on switch 2.

  4. Square-Enix seems dead set on making us pick between a real physical version or a version that runs better. I mean the choice is still easy because GKC’s are horrible and I refuse to buy one, but it still sucks.

  5. GKC is a dealbreaker. Square is very anti-consumer doing this deliberately.

DQ3 HD-2D got a Switch 2 upgrade and so did Final Fantasy Tactics so physical enthusiast should buy physical on Switch 1 then get an upgrade (even for a fee is fine), but everything else has no upgrade, no save file comparability and Switch 2 has no physical option.

Square is very shady and anti-consumer and I’m no longer supporting them because of this crap.

  6. Apparently this is a remake of a mobile game and so wad Bravery 0 so I hope this means Kingdom Hearts mobile games get remade but with more money before Kingdom Hearts 4.
