Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a genuinely intriguing and graphically lush role playing title.
The game starts with a long narrative explaining the events behind the previous Golden Sun games whilst keeping players up to date with what’s currently happening in the world of Weyard.
For those who’re newcomers to the critically acclaimed series the game intuitively offers hyperlinks within the in-game dialogue to explain the numerous references to the previous games, giving you plenty of background information regarding previous events and characters.
No role playing game would be complete without the inclusion of monstrous special forces and in the instance of Golden Sun you can summon creatures called Djinn. The Djinn fall into four different categories Venus (earth), Mercury (water), Mars (fire) and Jupiter (wind).
These Djinn combined with your characters special elemental skills offer an impregnable and devastating force. Their attacks can be used in two different ways. You can choose to set a Djinn to a certain character to unleash its attacks or you can summon a Djinn that’s in its resting phase to launch an all-powerful attack.
Your party also has an affinity with the elements allowing you to alter specific things throughout the lavish world. For instance one of the protagonists is an Earth Adept which allows him to change flowering plants into vines to climb up rock faces for example which adds in interesting spin on the already great game play.
If you’re looking for a solid role playing title with gorgeous visuals and an enormous amount of charm then look no further than Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
8/10

Definitely shouuld be 9/10
I know im getting it
You spelled “Djin” wrong.
It’s spelled “Djinn”. Or if you’re talking about just one, Djinni.
Many thanks for pointing that out. It’s been corrected : )
Roms+EMulators (No$GBA) FTW!!!! I ♥ this game finished each of its predecessors GS1,GS2 twice/thrice!!! acc. to how much I’ve played will give it…. 8.7/10
Is this a review? It looks like half of a plot summary and half of a feature summary.
I’m an enormous fan of the first two games, and while Dark Dawn is great fun, it lacks polish. The combat balancing is skewed, leaving my party characters at a range of different levels, weapons are overpowered, leaving psynergy nearly unused, and the puzzles are rarely more than a clever variation of moving forward.
6/10 for me. Fun, but nothing special, and it does not uphold the standard of the originals.
It’s a good game, no doubt, but in the end it isn’t nearly as great as the original two were.
Deserves in 9/10, in my opinion. :P
