Nintendo have announced that their profits during the third quarter dropped to a staggering $1.3 billion compared to the previous year which saw the company’s operating profit at $2.31 billion during the same period.
Despite this the company hasn’t changed its operating profit forecast for this financial year and have announced that they’re sticking with $2.5 billion primarily because they’re launching the highly anticipated Nintendo 3DS on February 26th.

That backs up my theory that the 3DS was brought forward to get a higher profit during the fiscal year.
I’d agree with you on that one. I suspect Nintendo would have rather brought the 3DS out during the summer when the majority of first party titles will be ready.

They should have waited.
No surprise there with profits being down 46%, there has been a dry up of awesome software released on both the Wii and DS systems.
I disagree. Donkey kong, 007 and Galaxy 2 are all recent and great games for Wii.
They’ll make a lot of money with the 3DS.
