Nintendo Wii: Nursing Home Residents Getting Up And About With Nintendo Wii

Residents at Maison de Ville are given a new and fresh incentive to get up and about with the inclusion of a Nintendo Wii at the residential home.

Nintendo’s motion sensing device has been an instant hit with residents who frequently challenge each other on games of Wii Sports. Activities director Angela Streams says that they generally play for around two to three hours and “they really enjoy it”.

“We have trouble getting them to buy into exercise, but in a lot of ways that’s exactly what this is,” she said. “What they think of as being a game actually is burning calories and keeping their motor skills up.”
