Many of you have been asking when Nintendo are going to announce a new colour for the Nintendo 3DS. Well, you’ll all be pleased to know that Nintendo has announced that it’s going to be releasing a ‘Red Flare‘ coloured version of its popular Nintendo 3DS console. The Red Flare Nintendo 3DS is set to arrive in Japan on July 14th with a ¥25,000 (£190) price tag.

Yeah, agreed. It would be so much nicer if there was a larger variety of colours. . . not to mention green is my favourite >3>

I had a red ds lite. I had a black dsi, and i had a blue ds. Why must i have had all the 3ds colours already. I want something new like green or yellow.
I agree. Gameboy Color had so many varieties. That’s what the 3DS needs.

I wanted a 3DS at launch, so I got black, but man… This is by far the best looking 3DS yet, IMO. However, I couldn’t have already beaten Find Mii and completed two puzzles in Puzzle Swap if I hadn’t had it all this time, so I guess I can’t complain! Man though…. this system is gorgeous.
Wait…. just had a thought: Couldn’t I get a friend that has yet to buy a 3DS buy this one and then swap with them before they use it using System Transfer? That’d be cool. I could pay them a little so it would make it a little more appealing for both parties.

Im glad that there making it in red… I didn’t save up for one because black seems boring after I had a black DSi, and blue seems to be the girls color of choice for the platform… But I like red over any other color to choose from, so now I’m gonna start saving up

purple and orange…? they never showed those two colors, as far as i remember.
They showed the purple and orange 3DS consoles at E3 last year.

It is gonna feel real shitty to have to get an undesired color. But I’m getting a 3DS as a gift next month.

Nintendo needs to choose different colors than the regular Red, blue, and black. Black is a boring color… Many want something like lime green or lightning yellow! I would love if they made a Pikachu version of a yellow 3DS! I would buy that in a heartbeat!
it’s very pretty, but i still like the blue one better. but i was wondering why they showed that color on last year’s E3 and never mentioned it again. glad they’ll release it now, so people have more options :)
do you know what would be cool? if they had 3DS console designs of characters such as mario, zelda, samus, link, donkey kong, kirby etc! :-D
like a green 3DS with a pic of link on it, red for mario, pink for kirby, samus of metroid, red and yellow for eg.
Very glad that they’re releasing this. It was my favorite color shown at last years E3 and matches the logo. Like many others, I’ll start saving now. I just hope it’s out in America by the time I have the money, or I’m buying black.
Finally! Red was the color I originally wanted, and here I thought they’d wait atleast a year before offering it. Glad I didn’t pick up a 3ds at launch.
Too bad it is Japan and the system is region locked. Nintendo still hasn’t released bunch of DS lite colors in the US if I remember correctly.
1. I’m surprised they’ve resorted to a new color this quickly.
2. Red was the color I wanted all along! If this gets a US release date, I’m glad I don’t have a 3DS yet. Now I don’t have to bite the bullet and get blue.

I shouldn’t have bought yet; I thought it’d be like a year before it came out…I would’ve been able to get it with Zelda…:( Next time I get a platform (prolly 5 years later lol) I’m waiting.
