Project CARS Developer Is Making Sure Wii U Doesn’t Get The “Crappy Version”

Andy Tudor, creative director at Slightly Mad Studios, has explained that the Wii U version of Project CARS will be just as good as the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game. In fact, Tudor says that because of all the additional functionality of the Wii U GamePad, the Wii U version of the game presents them will plenty of opportunities that the other platforms don’t offer. Here’s what Tudor had to say about Project CARS on Wii U.

“As soon as the Wii U was announced we were like `Oh my god, this looks amazing! We need to work on this´. There are loads of ways to use the Gamepad: As the rear-view mirror, or the parameters screen or for storing all HUD elements, or using the gyro to control the car…”

“There are lots of opportunities with the Wii U Gamepad, and we want to use it as much as we can because it´s so cool! There´s also Miiverse, which lets people post screen and post their thoughts on a game… The Wii U is full of opportunities.”

“But I can tell you that we´re making all the versions at the same time, so it´s not like we´re making the PC version and then we port it to consoles afterwards.”

“What we´re going to make sure is that the Wii U version is not the worst one, it won´t be a crappy version. We want people to get the game and say `Holy shit, that looks amazing!”

  1. This is great, not because of the Wii U but because it’s good to see developers making an effort sometimes

      1. dude my forza 3 and 4 looks and plays better than anything sony has offered me ever so get this shit outta here.

  2. Let’s hope that Tudor is in the same league as Alex Ward had with NFS: Most Wanted U. Project CARS has potential of becoming one of the best racing titles coming next year to the U (along with multiplats and PC).

  3. Even though i probably wont get this game, just not a fan of racing sims, it’s nice to see devs put effort into it.

I can get that the battle mode sucks and Wii’s driving was slow, but 7 was great for the most part. I just got a bit bored without Missions and lack of crazy gameplay. Being in 8th place the whole race and getting Chain Chomp in Double Dash was extremely thrilling.

  4. I’m happy that this kind of developers are having fun doing this High-Quality game with the system.

  5. I love when developers are in love with the art of developing instead of being in love with a particular company. I’m not a big racing fan, but I did get Need for Speed to show support for my Wii U, and if my finances allow it, I’ll get this as well.

  6. There was already a none-crappy version of a racing game for the Wii U, so with this new one, the Wii U will be two for two.

  7. i think the racing games on wii u will be much better than xbox and ps3 but at the sametime the wii u like the pc needs a steering wheel or at least axas paddles cause in need for speed most wanted u i have to use the second analog as the gas and break. its fine and all but yeah who wana play like that.

  8. You think this game will be better than Most Wanted U ? … because I have a shiload of fun with most wanted U right now. Already 3 millons SP in 2 weeks …
