Smash Bros has just become the biggest fighting game stream of all time. During the Smash Bros Melee live finals viewing figures peaked at over 100,000. Evo co-founder Tom Cannon has said that it makes it “the most watched fighting game in history”. Thankfully Nintendo reversed its earlier decision to not allow the game to be streamed at the event.

That’s the only thing I disliked about Melee; top tiers were played so often that I hold serious doubts about tourney player’s abilities to play as anything but the top tiers at a very high level.
I’ve seen some awesome mid-tier-character players outside of tournaments that make the moments going on in some of the EVO matches seem tame by comparison.
But then again, maybe I’m just tired of seeing “Fox only, Final Destination” scenarios over and over again. Jaded though it may be, it’s how I feel.
wobblez kept things interesting during the finals, but damn was Mango good.

I think it was because of all the drama and ranting from the evo smash players that reached word of mouth from the casual fans and Nintendo making it a big deak to not stream it that it jusy self advertised itself and when ninty allowed it that more people tuned in to watch because everyone made it such as big deal.

At the end of the day, Smash Bros is: one button for standard moves, another one for special attacks.

In objection to… half of that, I will say that Wavedash is in fact, not a glitch, as glitches are unintended things that happen in the game. Wavedash however was obviously found during testing of the game, and was kept in as a little neat thing ;3
It was still never intended to be a mechanic or an advanced technique. When they found out how much people overused to the point some claimed ”if you don’t wavedash, you suck at Smash” (I wish I was making that up), they fixed it in Brawl and then Melee fanboys went ballistic.
