This week’s Media Create sales are in from Japan, but there’s not much change at the top of the board with Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life holding onto the top spot for the third week running. However, this time the top 10 is entirely compiled of 3DS titles, save for the one Wii U title Pikmin 3 – even Donkey Kong rolls back in at number 10.
Next week’s Media Create should prove interesting as The Wonderful 101 launches in Japan on August 24, however with only 30,000 copies reportedly shipping at launch, will it even scratch the surface, or will it disappoint like Yakuza 1 & 2 HD, which hasn’t even graced the chart? 3DS LL hardware sales almost reach 50,000 this week, proving that the 3DS continues to remain the best-selling system in Japan. Should it have something to do with portability/mobility/convenience? Since your handheld is laying anywhere, you just grab it and turn it on and in secondsyou’re gaming. Simple as that.
I love my 3DS, and maybe I’m finally getting a Vita due to the price cut. But I’m a gamer who is still totally sticked to home consoles…
Its why the Wii U makes a lot of sense to me. I pick it up play games for a little bit and then put it aside. I grab it when I want to change the channel, see what is on the listing of whats on (I don’t have cable but live in a city so I have 50+ over air channels). Check what going on the mii verse. I usually just pick it up while something on the TV or while my Xbox is playing a DVD movie.
Now that’s something my brother does. Not playing on the wii u? No Problem, tv remote + huluplus on 360 = paradise to him. He always holds that pad close because its more than a gaming console.

Dude the W101 is not even in the top 100 for best selling games. Hell, its doing even worst than gta v, beyond two souls, cod ghosts, and BF4.

You are correct. Its just that this is what happened exactly to yakuza 1 & 2 HD pre orders. It’s now currently sitting on #118.
Actually, Pikmin 3 sold around 93k in its first week in Japan, and that was only two days’ worth, not the full week!

It’s impressive we have nothing less than 17 Nintendo titles in the top 20, and even Pikmin 2 shows up in the chart, probably boosted by Pikmin 3 recent release.
Mario Kart 7 sells like hot cakes, showing the power of the franchise. I bet Mario Kart 8 will be a wonderful system seller.
Erich80 I forgot that Pikmin 2 sales rose as well. Yep, 17 nintendo titles basking in the top 20. This gurantees nintendo and us gaming fans enough money for STARFOX and F-zero to be made for the WiiU. More money to increase staff employment as Iwata stated earlier last month. Great news from afar really does cheer the soul.
Right. That guarantees a good financial health for Ninty, which is quite well already, actually.
My real impression about Nintendo postponing both the new Star Fox and F-Zero is more due to technical constraints, I mean, HD know-how and staff limitations in number, as you pointed you. But since Nintendo is overcoming those issues now, all we hope they put efforts to deliver new entries for those loved franchises. In time, Star Fox in HD would be a dream coming true.
It’s great to see that the Wii u sales are picking up somewhat! Hopefully they continue to improve.

Gamespot also didn’t publish that the 3DS is the worlds leading console by a marathon stretch for 2 years now. This is called always laugh as gamespot and their ancestors of the 80s fall flat as always lol.
Where are haters now, the WiiU is fighting with the 3DS, throwing in rock , yellow, blue, flying and even captain Olimar with Pikmin to secure a 9th place or spot :).

There was a time the 3DS was laughed at and touted as a failure, then Mario kart 7 and 3D Mario land showed up. Today because of that a Vita is a controller for the PS3 and PS4. Look closely, Pikmin 3 alone has kept the WiiU in the 10000 console average for two and a half months. Don’t down play Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong and their other giants for a second. It’s nintendo season again :). Let me address your failed logic on this one, Pikmin 3 is also fending off PS3 games, PS 3 a console that is over 10 million strong userbase in Japan. More or less, so what sales consoles, great games or evil people that post nintendo hate articles since the 80s?

Calm down, man. I saw no arrogance in his words. You both pointed out interesting facts, and I confess that I’m also afraid about Nintendo relegating the Wii U to the sidelines…
But, take into account that hard-copy Pikmin 3 sales are doing very, very well, given the Wii U install base. It’s overtaking titles which could potentially have a pretty higher demand.
That’s true, with nintendo still hitting the others hard, its no wonder why is, still, and clearly number one sales with the 3ds. Don’t get me wrong, I do play other systems if givin the chance of owning them again…but I can see who the winner is in this fact. Now vita has a chance to back it up thanks to its price drop, we might finally see a shift if it goes well for vita. It don’t matter to me either way, nintendo is my past gaming console and even to this day, my home console. I don’t matter what haters think or say, to me, they are fools.
This definitely has to be pleasant news to investors! Glad Pikmin 3 is back in the top 10. What an awesome game! Hopefully, the W101 does really well. I know of that it will be a day 1 purchase for me!
I just bought Yokai watch too, just waiting for it to get here along with the Japanese 3DS.
So because this is good news for the Wii U, this will be hard to find from the media. That’s why I got to believe that PIkmin 3 did well in its first week in the States. I have to be honest, I did not expect Pikmin 3 to hang in there this long. Wow and the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong games aren’t even out yet. Another thing’s Wii U haters swore up and down Wii u needed to lower the price and yet Wii u increased more than PS3 because of the Software.
Pikmin jtz joined the other established nintendo franchises and grew some legs. It is going to be charting beautifully in the west and other regions if Reggie and Shibata can continue marketing it with consistent little adds on television and the net. Wonderful 101, only needs more air time on Japan, plus a bundled release there.
I know W101 will sell well. That demo is fun as FUCK. The more I play, the better I get. I’m no longer button mashing. I know how to switch between wonder red, blue and green. I like the off TV a little better because I can make another screen appear if I am inside a building and need to open up doors (those who played the demo know what I’m talking about). And the Graphics for a cartoon like game are to die for. W101 has a lot of action and the Game pad is very reliable because there is no lag. And its up to 5 players!
Took a look at the top 20, and number 11, 16, and 20 are the only non-nintendo games.

Wow that’s pretty sweet. And why should we be worried about the rise of iOS and Android platforms? Obviously the two markets can co-exist because the 3DS is doing extremely well and is slated to be the best selling console yet.
