It’s been a good week for the Wii U in the United Kingdom as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has entered the individual formats chart at number four. It’s been a while since a Wii U game has graced the top forty, so no doubt Nintendo UK will be celebrating.

That’s pretty impressive. The only things that beat it out were the official games for a hit movie and frickin’ Minecraft. It even managed to beat out FIFA.

but in uk the newly releasedones stay there at least for 2 weeks. pokemon is a great long term seller and theres a short term puzzle battle one too( which if I will ever get into pokemon it would be because of those spinoffs titels since im not into rpgs ect)
wow good job UK :) great game choices im not a 360 fan but will buy lego movie on the wii u it looks fun. DKCTF is awesome im loving that game. 1 of my all time fav platformers right now and for a long time to come.

Actually the lego games are pretty great. Im not sure about this newest one, but Lego City is a toned down version of GTA… would definitely recommend lego city undercover for the U and this game should play similarly i suspect….

Donkey Kong beating out FIFA, Call of Duty, GTA V AND still coming out at #4, pretty damn impressive for a console judged as “dying”
All those games came out last year. It would be sad if it didn’t. Still, great position for Nintendo.

Its not one big game that is going to turn the Wii U around but little wins like this.
While I have a Wii U, I don’t plan on getting it (mostly because what I’m hearing about the difficulty). Still, I’m very glad a Nintendo game is doing well in a country that seems to hate them more often than not.
Are you kidding me!! That’s what donkey kong games are known for their fun and difficult.plus when you die you know it’s your fault and not that the game is being cheap.
That’s probably why I equally stunk at playing the original SNES games too. Guess the series isn’t for me. Retro Studios really loves their hard games. I have yet to beat a single game they’ve made.
Just to add, I have no problem with “reasonable difficulty”, but when I played DKC Returns, that was borderline “ragequit difficulty”, and I imagine this is more of the same.
Which means I’m getting it for sure, I’m so tired of easy games…
The only ragequit difficulty levels are the fucking rail cart ones. Lol just thinking about it makes me mad.

At my store, I sold out of Donkey Kong in two days! Granted ordered limited copies (3), it took a month to sell out of the 4 copies ordered for Mario World. Most other U games had to be dropped in price to sell. Maybe this is a good sign…
I pre ordered in gamespot and they told me that they sold out, only with reserved ones. Jesus, I didn’t think the game was going to do that well.

Well it quiet good if you think millions buy FIfa and COD in UK, if you think those games still sell after they have been released it ‘s not that bad. I am sure Mario kart will do better in UK cause THAT’s the game everybody want (me included). As to say it will move system I am not certain but Mario Kart Needs to be backup by other monster such a zelda or RPG/JRPG to increase hardware sales. I also do believe Pokemon game should be on the Wii U (cause they are tons of Pokemon’s fans who had not buy the wii u yet) . If a pokemon is release on the Wii U a cross platform between 3DS and Wii U is a must either the same game approach or complementary approach (i.e pokemon Z).
