Old Famicom Game By Nintendo Is Coming To The West For The First Time

The Mysterious Murasame Castle, the game that Nintendo Land’s attraction Takamaru’s Ninja Castle was based, on will be coming to the European Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Europe on May 29th. What’s also interesting is that this game will be coming to the west for the very first time and will retail for €4.99/£4.49.  You can check out a video of the interesting game in action, above.

Thanks, Takamaru64

    1. It’s a Japanese exclusive action game that’s similar to The Legend of Zelda, but focuses more on speed running and defeating ninja.s It’s a highly difficult game, hence the reason why it never had a Western release other than the obvious cultural differences. It may have not garnered the success of the Legend of Zelda, but it does have a small cult following in Japan.

      1. If you can’t make or afford anything at a merely $5 price, then you’re either broke or cheap as fuck. $5 is nothing and I can find a loose $5 somewhere or make $5 by playing amateur music with a banjo.

    1. They all seem overpriced, but if you think about it, it’s not that expensive. At least here in Norway, just do not buy a chocolate and a small soda, and you can afford it. It’s like the price of one days lunch!

Though, if they were cheaper, I would have bought a lot more of them!

      1. Ok, I agree with you, but if it was cheaper certainly I would buy them all. I said that they are overpriced because they are old, if they were a game made today, the price would be understandable. They already did a lot of money with them in the past.

        1. Yeah. And when it comes to NES games, even though most of them are good, they could have been a lot better with a little more power! The SNES games still hold up, so I feel I get more for my money when buying SNES games, than when buying NES games.

*facepalm* What do you make, 250 bucks a month? Little bit expensive my ass. This game would most likely cost a hell of a lot more if it actually came to Europe in the late 80s, very early 90s. I guess you also want The Wizard of Oz for a buck, too, because it’s over 75 years old? I’m not trying to be mean but this is ridiculous if you think 5 bucks is expensive. Did you know the older wine, vodka, champagne, etc is, the more it costs? The older something gets, the more it will naturally cost, so Nintendo could be selling this game to you for a lot more if they wanted to.

      1. sorry if I irritated you with a simple comment.Man you are so dramatic. I make an equivalent of 600 dollars per month. If itd cost less I could buy more vc games. sorry, calm down.

If you make that much, 5 shouldn’t be expensive in any way, not even a little bit. If you are going to use anything to explain why you won’t get it, at least say because it’s just not your type of game. I just get irritated when I hear people call 5 bucks expensive when it’s really not unless you are poor. Even I can manage a 5 dollar game & I only get around 700 bucks a month.

          1. yes,i can understand your point, and I respect it, and almost all the money i make is to pay my apartment, i really dont have much to pay for games. and for me some vc games dont worth 5or 7dollars. and unfortunately i wish i could buy them all, the list is big, but i cant right now

Yikes. In that case, 5 bucks does sound a little bit expensive for your situation.

  1. Takamaru would be so perfect for Smash since he’s a ninja! Plus, Sakurai said he wanted lots of retro characters.

    1. Technically, he’s a samurai and they historically were known for using kunai or shirukens to distract foes from afar.

  2. This is actually pretty cool news to hear that an old Famicom game is coming to the west for the first time. This music was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. There’s a lot of Famicom games that would be cool to see brought over to the west (translated). Especially RPG’S. There’s SO many RPG’S on the famicom. Though I’m not a fan of digital, at least Nintendo is bringing it to the west in some form.

I bought many Famicom games that looked like they would have potential of being great games. But I couldn’t get past the first screens due to Japanese text. : /

  3. Takamaru I see as a hidden character. Hoping he is in along with Mike Jones from StarTropics. Hugs!

It’s possible. But right now, it’s just European countries getting the game, so I don’t know if it’s safe to say that just yet.

  4. What the fuck, did I just see a game say “loading” on the NES? Anyhow, this game looks pretty sweet.

    1. Speaking of Wii U, it’s strange the game isn’t on Wii U Virtual Console in Japan yet. It could might as happen this fall.

    1. That’s the Anti-Nintendo fandorks talking. Look at a game, call it 8 bit crap without playing and calling a $5 retro game that nobdy ever played before “expensive” while able and willingly buy a fucking $400-500 gimped PC in a box console means they’re both stupid and cheap.

    2. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Apparently something over 25 years old isn’t worth 5 bucks & should be a hell of a lot cheaper. I guess they also want movies like Wizard of Oz or Annie for free because they are over 75 years old. If they can pay 5 bucks for a damn cell phone game, they can damn sure pay 5 bucks for a video game that came to an NES.

  5. I am actually the one who uploaded that video. Excuse my terrible playing, but the game really is good. I hope that the game makes it to North America as well. And I hope this leads up to Takamaru either being playable or as an Assist Trophy in Smash 4. I can answer any questions you have about the game.

  6. looks fun I like the classic old Japanese music is this coming to north America aso its from the original nes not the nes that came out in usa so that’s pretty cool

      1. They damn better. There’s only one piece of Japanese dialogue in the entire game besides the title screen.
