Japanese Charts: Nintendo 3DS Sells 88K And Wii U Sells 9K

We’ve finally got this week’s Japanese charts and as expected Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are taking it by storm. There wasn’t much of a hardware boost for the Nintendo 3DS this week despite the high-profile release. Wii U isn’t having quite such a good week as sales dropped again this week. Anyway, here’s the best-selling games in Japan this week.

      It’s almost like there’s a newer system out that has this thing called ‘backwards compatibility” something Sony doesn’t seem to have any knowledge of.

      How you know Wii U is failing without results of how it did in America with Super smash bros? The results aren’t in yet. Xbox is the one failing it need multiple changes just to surpass Wii U. Two price cuts in 3 months?

        jtz tell him. The WiiU is selling at a profit, its games are on everyone’s mind. 12 of the WiiU’s games are of a 9/10 and 10/10 game and gamer rating. All of them are better than whats out on the PS3/PS4/xbox360/xboxone right at this moment. Smash brothers 1080P/60fps 10/10 game is killing it at retail right now, sold out. NINTENDO! tell them ’cause these unbelievers are even ignoring those 1.2 million pokemon games sold in 1 1/2 days lol.

      Smash brothers WiiU is saying hello to your almost in tears hating self. The WiiU is selling at a profit. Unlike an xbonless with multiple price cuts now sold at $349 from what $499 up $524 plus tax hahahahahaha. Or a Playstation 4 with two games and indies, plus reharshes and Assassins creed little big planet, oh! I meant unity.

                Mobile devices are not handhelds, they are just fucking cellphones with mini games to entertain the masses, they sell ’cause everyone needs and wants a cellphone to communicate, no one buys a cellphone to play video games, LMAO! XD

      Yea, Smash isn’t out for Japan yet I don’t think. Surely it would make the top forty.

      What really worries me is the lack of holiday sales for Nintendo hardware. This late in the month there should be clear signs of an increase. Sony and Microsoft are both selling a million consoles every two weeks. Nintendo hasn’t even seen the lightest bit of an increase yet… In Japan or the U.S…..Being a Nintendo fan, it’s really disturbing.

      I also just read something very disturbing. Something that made me lose the last bit of hope I had in gamers. Assassins Creed Unity sold 2 million units in it’s first week….. A game that was broken at best, sells like that…

      For all the people that bought that game, all your doing is encouraging Ubisoft to keep putting out yearly, broken, half baked releases… I have lost all faith…You guys deserve whats coming… These large companies are finally starting to realise that they can release unfinished games and it will not impact sales.. They are going to have a field day with this… Don’t ever blame the developer for releasing a broken game. It’s the consumers fault for buying them.

      Japan needs some more competition. It’s ruled by 3DS when it comes to dedicated gaming systems. There needs to be something else that can give the 3DS a run for its money sales-wise. Otherwise, the Japanese gaming industry will stagnate further. Good competition breeds innovation and creativity.

        So because Nintendo is doing the handheld business right you want sells to decrease with better competition. But because Sony’s PS4 sells as good as the 3Ds globally you won’t bring up the PS4 needs some competition. So as long as sony ‘s PS4 is king globally it doesn’t need competition.

          Stop being a sensitive zealot. No. I don’t want the sales to decrease. I’m not sure where you got that assumption from. This has nothing to do with Sony, so I don’t know why you’re bringing them up. The PS4 HAS competition in the dedicated space in each major region it’s sold in.

          I don’t care what company it is that brings better competition but the market needs diversity in Japan. The effects have already been seen. The industry over there is in disarray and only those with glassy-eyes can’t recognize it.

          If it was Sony in Nintendo’s spot I would say the same thing. If it was Microsoft I would say the same thing. If it was Apple, Sega, Amazon, etc. I would say the same thing. The dedicated space has been dominated by one system over there by a very large margin and while it’s great for that sole company in the short-term, it’s bad for the industry in the long run.

      I’m happy for Nintendo’s success with Pokemon. But I’ll never understand it’s everlasting appeal. It’s like, if you played one, you’ve played them all. Except for having different pokemon to catch.

      Is it any wonder the Wii U failed to sell once again?
      I told you so, Super Smash Bros was going to be the killer app of the console, but they ruined it.
      Launching the 3DS version earlier, at a lower price, on a console everyone already owns and forcing the Wii U version to have the same roster diminished any sort of interest on upgrading.
      Nintendo forgot that the reason they were making this game was to move Wii U units, not to give a “fair” experience for 3DS users or to appease the people that already have a Wii U; making the Wii U version an exclusive (At least for 6 months-1 year) and avoiding nerfing it for the sake of the 3DS version is what would have helped move Wii U units, as it stands now very few are gonna want to pay up 300 bucks to play a game they had readily available for two months on a console they probably already have.
