Popular US retail chain GameStop have apparently stopped taking pre-orders for Wave 3 Amiibo both online and in many of its stores. If you’re desprate for the figures and wan’t them directly on launch day then you may want to think about queuing up for launch. However, if that doesn’t appeal to you then it’s worth checking other retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon to see if you can get hold of the Wave 3 Amiibo figures.

I still have not bought an Amiibo. It sort of turned me off after no plans of doing what that Rayman Legends concept was supposed to do. Amiibos just seem like a fancy flash drive that stores data.
No, Nintendo came with this genius idea how to fuck over their consumers. Microtransactions are frowned upon, yeah? So they make them physical and it’s suddenly ok. But people say “No, Nintendo makes them because they are figures, not because of microtransactions. That’s just a bonus”, but then Nintendo comes out and says “Amiibos that are out of stock are probably going to be sold as cards” confirming that Amiibos are just keys for the already-in-game shit.

Sure, my uncle isn’t in a very high position, but he does spy and really like to learn how it’s done. After the limited exclusive Amiibos pre-sold out and the very limited availability of others, has made me not care at all. I might get the cards…. might….
I know I really don’t care anymore I only pre ordered sonic and mega man from this wave and the only other ones I might buy are a mewtwo ganondorf and pacman, but I’m tired of nintendo giving us the runaround with these things such as refusing to give release dates and reluctance in adressing their quantity problems.
Has an official date for the North American release been given? All that’s really out there is February 2015. A firm date would be helpful for people that have to get it at a retail store.
If I learned anything from Wave 2 is that the dates for specific characters vary. Example: Two can come out on 1st like three more can come out on the 15th and four more on the 28th, it varies and it’s annoying. But pre-ordering them through retailers actually helps that they call you/text you when they become available to be picked-up instead of this dumb guessing game.

They make loads of high quality and high in sales quantity video games but can’t figure out how to deal with quantity issues pertaining to special releases for one of their most popular franchises? Same goes for the Majora’s Mask 3D collectors edition already out of stock. It seems to me like a silly marketing strategy to promise something and “give up” on it half way through the endeavor. Do they really make more money by creating a limited supply like this? I feel as though the consumer is the one making the profit after having purchased amiibo for cheap and selling them at sky rocketed rates all because Nintendo decided it would be a good idea to discontinue content.

Wave 3 has already been known for a while now so I knew we weren’t getting Ness yet, but he’s up there on my list for sure.
Hopefully Ness will show up in Wave 4 along with maybe R.O.B, Mr Game & Watch, Ganondorf, Charizard, Greninja, Robin, and Pac-Man. The final wave may consist of Dark Pit, Palutena, Jigglypuff, Falco, Lucina, Wario, Dr. Mario, Olimar, Zero Suit Samus and Duck Hunt Dog

… this has nothing to do with Nintendo short-stocking. GameStop can’t take more pre-orders because they need finalized numbers for to be stocked with to make sure they can fill pre-orders and then have some to put on shelves. For the last two-ish months, GameStop has had them up, even when TRU, BB, and Target didn’t. If you didn’t order them before a week or two of their release knowing how trying to get these things goes, that’s nobody’s fault except your own.

I have all amiibos to this point except peach,villager,and fox. Seriously I’m so tired of this limited availability I didn’t even bother to preorder any of the wave 3 amiibos. You’re all aware the reason they stopped pre-orders is because the figures are arriving. They can’t keep selling pre-orders when they’ve already been sent the stock to cover those. If you pre-ordered any from GameStop, I’d suggest keeping an eye on your phone. Within the next week or two you should be expecting a “Your order is ready for pickup!” text from them.

Nintendo seems to want Amiibo’s to be “quick money” the Wii U was not making them money for so long, so they feel the Amiibo’s are easy cash if they ever need some extra cash. Or maybe Nintendo is afraid no matter what they put out it might not sell well like Wii U did it’s first 2 years…
I have every 3rd wave amiibo pre-ordered except for Bowser, Toon Link and Rosalina. I don’t know what the story is with Rosalina? Target STILL isn’t taking pre-orders.

Rosalina was available for a VERY limited number of pre-orders for like… half an hour. Probably less. Most of the stock is just getting put on shelves. Which is probably a good thing, since hopefully they’ll be able to limit scalping through that.
If that’s true, I’ll be making many stops at Target when Rosalina is released.
Same here. My girlfriend wants a Rosalina amiibo, so I’m hoping that Target puts them out when GameStop puts Wave 3 out. There’s a Target literally one mile north of the GameStop my pre-orders are put in at, so if I ca hit GameStop hen it opens and go straight for Target from there, I’m hoping I can snag one for her.

LOL I still have not seen one single wave two Amibo. Not one. No Zelda, no nothing. And I check retail stores on a regular basis! What a joke really. I have already realized that getting them all is really impossible in my part of the country, unless I wanted to pay out the ass on ebay.
So I’ll just settle with wave one, and the Shulk I have on pre-order. Fuck the rest of them. Nintendo has made it too hard to track them all down. A silly and ridiculous business move if you ask me.

Northern Florida. It seems like every store I go to never even recieved any wave two Amibo. Everytime I ask the employees they say wave one is the only ones they have ever had.
I… don’t know where you live, but Luigis absolutely ooze off of shelves around here. Same with Diddy and Zelda. I never saw a Pit, Captain Falcon, or Little Mac on shelves, admittedly, but just last week I went to a Meijer looking for something for my sister and I stopped by the electronics. There were three Zeldas, two Diddy Kongs, and two Luigis. Absolutely nothing from Wave 1.
I found Captain Falcon only one time on the shelves at Target. Bought one for myself and my brother. But never saw any since. I’ve NEVER seen Pit on any store shelves. Only reason I have Pit is because I pre-ordered him.
The only time I was in the same store as a Captain Falcon was when I went to GameStop on December 26th. The line was wrapped completely around the walls of the store and someone who walked in and asked was told they had four left. I ultimately ended up ordering it from Toys R Us and somehow lucked out and didn’t get it canceled. Pit… let’s just say I will NEVER order an amiibo from there again. Release Date was December 30th. Went there on the 30th, was told that they didn’t get them. Called back every day to ask about it, even giving them the specific Order Number and was told they still didn’t have it. Last day before it auto-canceled, I went in and was told “Yea, we actually had it on the 30th. We tried calling your home phone* but you didn’t answer so….” I’m SO happy that I can easily live without Meta Knight and hope the rest of my Wanted List doesn’t end up BB Exclusive.
*The phone number they tried calling wasn’t even associated with my BB account at all. I didn’t recognize it, and my current cell phone number was on the account — on that exact order, in fact — and they didn’t even try calling it.
*I will never order an amiibo from Best Buy again. Just realized I never mentioned that at all.
Can’t find King DeDeDe or Ike anywhere! Been looking for like 2 weeks…Can’t get Rosalina cause my entire City doesn’t have a Target….and the Canadian Target site is useless. Might be able to get Lucario and Meta Knight……eventually. Shulk who knows. Got all the others ordered though.

I’m hoping that by the end of the year these things will be super massed produced. That’ll make a lot of people who just bought them to resale them mad too.
I’m guessing that that’s the reason they haven’t announced Wave 4 yet is because they’re gonna try to balance the supply issues first. I’m hoping by Spring/April-ish they’ll have sorted it all out.

Eh, I don’t care about amiibos anymore… The fact that I can’t go to the store and see them sitting on a shelf and me wondering “Hmm, which should I buy today?” Is a huge turn off.
Everyone is just buying them in bulk online and people are fighting and it’s just a big stupid mess.
I wish they made the figures more accessible like with Skylanders and Disney Infinity. The whole situation is a huge turn off for me and other consumers. It’s really only exciting for scalpers. :(

Nintendo, make a god damn online store that you yourselves fully control & let us order amiibo directly from you. They better re-release Pit & Meta Knight down the line, damn it! I was so concerned with Shulk that I didn’t realize Meta Knight was part of amiibo Wave 3. Maybe Meta Knight won’t be one of the rare amiibo & I can actually find him in-store.
