Xenoblade Chronicles X Allows You To Install Files To Improve Disc Load Times

https://twitter.com/Sab_Mas/status/586533764571889664

One of the things that emerged out of yesterday’s Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles X presentation was the ability to install files from the eShop to improve the disc load times. There are four different versions which reduce load time for the disc version. If you purchase the game digitally it should come with these pre-installed. Here’s the different options:

  • Field/Basic Data Pack (Large effect) : 2GB
  • Enemy Data Pack (mid): 2.7GB
  • Player Data Pack (mid): 3.6GB
  • Doll Data Pack (mid): 1.7GB

  1. I hate this sideways marketing Monolith is doing. What are they going to do when it starts to get close to a western release date? Are they going to show us all new directs, and all new promotions? Or are they just going to recycle all the Japanese directs and videos to us. Either way it’s an antiquated style of marketing. This worked in the 90’s when the internet was in it’s infancy. But now it’s just considered piss poor marketing.

    1. Not really. In fact, I’d actually like to see the directs with English Dub. Though MS probably realize that most fans have seen the Japanese ones already and won’t bother. They’ll probably just do a few unique commercials a la XC3D.

      1. Most of the Japanese videos have already been translated by outside sources. You can watch them anytime you want. Or you can wait six months for Nintendo to officially translate them. Either way it’s idiotic and your approval doesn’t change that fact. Theres no way Nintendo will spend more money to make new directs for the Western audience. Even though 80% of the sales will come from the Western audience.

I don’t see how anybody outside of Japan could defend this horrible, god awful marketing and release strategy…

  2. Nintendo Commander Mar-Vell

I’ve got 1 terabyte of memory on my Wii U. No problems here. External. Buy all my games digitally so they can transfer over easier to the NX. Plus the digital deluxe program gave me $50+ in free games. It had a lot more reward for your money than club Nintendo. For Windwaker, Smash, Kart 8, Toad, 3D World, Wario, Party, Remix, Super Metroid, and probably 15 more free games from SNES, 64, NES. Who wants to party? ;)

  4. So you don’t need all 4 files? All 4 will not even see much difference in my external but eShop traffic would be the most obvious hindrance.

  5. For those of you who had missed out on yesterday’s final presentation of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Doll/Network, please take a look…

        1. They are on the disc, but having the files installed on the hdd instead of pulling them from the disc is faster. This is a good thing that you shouldn’t be complaining about. If you just want to use the disc you can, the files are in there, but if you want even better performance then you can download some assets to the hdd and load them from there instead of the disc. This will give you faster performance. Again this is a good thing, actually it’s a great thing that all games should probably start doing.

        2. Also notice how there are 4 packs available. You can download just the terrain assets, the ech assets, etc. If you have the space you can download all 4 if you wish. When you’re done with the game you can delete all those files which I repeat are on your disc anyway.

    1. Those files are on the disc. You don’t need to download them if you don’t want to. The disc itself contains all the files. This is just if you want the game to load a little faster. Loading from the hard drive is faster than loading from a disc.
