UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Appears Back In The Charts

Our UK charts are out courtsey of GKF Chart Track, and Mortal Kombat X remains, unsurprisingly, on top. Interestingly, we have a few Nintendo titles popping up again though. Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U makes a reappearance at 33, Tomodachi Life for Nintendo 3DS sneaks in at 32 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is back in at 35– knocking Mario Party 10 for Wii U down 6 places to 37. The highest placing Nintendo title is Tomodachi Life, with Xbox One and PS4 battling for the rest.

    1. If you mean on the PS4 TROPICO 5 (KALYPSO MEDIA) part, then the reason why that is highlighted, is because it’s a new entry on the chart and not a returning entry like Mario Kart 8 or a consecutive entry like Mario Party 10

        1. Sounds fair. Maybe returning entries could be highlighted with Bold and Italics and new entries just in Bold.

      1. I agree with you on the Battle Mode front. They could give Battle Arenas the Extra 8 Player Stages that Smash Bros for Wii U got. What exactly do you mean by ‘Fixed Map Selections?’

          1. That’s to avoid constant spamming of the same course. I think that they should change it so that you can pick any course, except for the courses that have been choosen in that room for the last 3 races. Either that or you could, you know, choose random.

      2. I'm a Boss Ass Bitch

Actually the voice chat sounds fine in mario kart 8. Now the voice chat in smash bros sounds fucking shitty with a bunch of static.

        1. I mean during gameplay. I want it that way. Nintendo still acting like pussies over Swapnote which is two years ago and had no moderation which was their problem and fault.

              1. I'm a Boss Ass Bitch

If you talking about bombing some shit or nuking something than you’ll have nothing to worry about. Use Skype on a computer.

          1. The thing is, what button would you map it on to turn it on and off during a race, so that yo can turn it on and off while driving? The only button that could have been used at launch was the minus button, but that is now used to turn the map on or off. And turning the volume off on the Gamepad is not an option, because you might not be able to hear other people, but other people can still hear you.

        1. It is. Having to race in a full, 8 pre-selected tracks is not even a good idea for the most part. It’s like trying to play against 12 players in that huge Stonehaven map in COD Ghosts. Makes no fucking sense and only discourages people to stop playing. It needs REAL ARENAS like in Double Dash/DS/7, not this lazy oversized crap.

  1. That DLC Pack is what caused it. Mario Kart 8 has probably surpassed 5 Million by now. Mario Kart 8 might end up as the Wii U’s best selling game, just like Mario Kart Wii was for the Wii.(You know, excluding Wii Sports, because that came with every Wii outside of Japan.)

      1. It looks to me that it might surpass even Double Dash. You know, knowing that Mario Kart is more popular since DS than before it.

            1. Because of the dual kart mechanic. It was so much fun and was never unbalanced compare to MK8’s item/luck system always giving you BS items from last places and fucking coins around 3rd-1st places.

People love the dual karts and character exclusive items better which I also like.

      2. And thus, making Polygon, look even more ridiculous than when Mario Kart smashed Polygon’s sales expectations.

        1. Polygon are fucking moronic like DF bashing MK8 “1 frame rate drop” performance while a year later praising Splatoon for the same reason or IGN giving OmegaRuby 7.8 for “too much water” while citing the same from the original game in 2003 and gave it a near perfect score, 9.5 I think.

    1. I really don’t like living in the U.K. It’s less to do with Gaming Tastes and more to do with a lot of the people here. The majority are Mannerless, Grumpy all the time and act just plain stupid most of the time. And don’t get me started on the government, every single time a new Prime Minister gets elected, it seems as if the country is getting more and more worse. I will be voting for the current Prime Minister’s rival at this year’s General Election, but chances are, whoever gets elected, the U.K won’t be much better than before they took over…

      1. well don’t talk about the all UK. What you are describing is the South of England who is well known for they lack of manners and their low brain power/common sense. If you go up north or in Scotland, you will find normal people. You can always vote UKIP and fuck that 2 party system if you want some change in this kingdom. Personally I would vote for the SNP if I could but I can’t so UKIP will do.

    2. here we go again… I love UK and yes we have some fault and it’s not the perfect country but far prefer to live in Uk than US. Who have the same taste of game as US (strangely enough you don’t mention it).

  2. Rule of three: For the past three weeks the lone 3DS game on those charts got replaced with another, with another. Now three 3DS games are in this chart. One of them is a holdover from last week, and another is one who served as the ‘lone 3DS game’ as described for a week. The last one charted together with the former (the holdover) for Week 13, 2015, and vanished for the next three weeks. And the three games’ places in this chart share 3 as their tens digit.

  3. Too much XBox One/360 and PS3/4 stuff…
Poor Nintendo… (don’t get me wrong, I’m a trustworthy Nintendo fan)
