Here’s The Original Character Designs For Yooka-Laylee

yooka_laylee_original_desgin

We were all pleased and excited today to see PlayTonic lift the lid on their promising 3D platformer, which is officially titled Yooka-Laylee. We also saw a brief bit of gameplay footage via IGN, which you can watch here. What has come to light is the original designs for the two protagonists Yooka and Laylee. As you can see Yooka is a little more fleshed out and masculine looking while Laylee looks more devious than ever. The official Kickstarter will go live on May 1st.

Brace yourself.

Here we have the original original designs. Back when Laylee was a little more deranged, bless his cotton socks. He’s still as cheeky as ever, though.

Yooka’s look has been streamlined a bit, and is much more feminine than it once was. But you already noticed that.

Thanks, Charles

      1. Nintendo Lieutenant Cereza

Thank you Sickr for not posting that inferior article about Lynlee. Only bottom feeders would resort to such petty ignorant slander. Your quality control is mucb appreciated.

        1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

          >>>Excellent work Lieutenant, you have your first ever confused primal, it’s a sign of being upgraded>>>

              1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

                >>>I wonder how many of these peons actually knows what Tetrarch means, or Quadramus, obviously it’s a mashup of my older body Quadraxis and the genetic energy from Dark Samus but it also means something by itself>>>

  1. So Yooka is female then, so basically it’s Banjo-Kazooie but flipped around.

Can’t wait to back this game

  2. Meh, it looks generic. I’m sorry but I saw the gameplay and it looks bland and generic as hell

    1. Hell is a very generic place you know, the spikes all around seem out of IKEA, those lava pits are prefab… no love in there, and even the forks demons carry have look like something made in China… very generic…
      PS: I need to sleep.

  3. Banjo… Kazooie
    Yooka… Laylee

I see that theyre still very clever. /s

I do like what I see so far, its what BK:Nuts&Bolts shouldve been. Anyways I hope this game delivers.

Game looks good. The characters are very interesting and unlike you’d ever see in other games. The last time I played as a bat-creature was in Sonic Adventure Battle 2. The last time I played as a chameleon is… well, never.

  5. Hey,@Sickr, I’ve been having a glitch online that makes the articles go farther back than it should be, could you fix it or is it normal? This is an IPad Mini btw, I don’t know if that would help.

I like it so far. This game doesn’t have to obey the laws of nature so anything can happen. Plus it is a 3D platformer with BK like features. It also looks like it can be hallarious like Banjo Kazooie was. I’LL buy it if it makes it to production. And besides there isn’t a lot of 3D platformers these days. Now as for the ryming, does Playtonic have the rights to put ryming in or is that a copyright through Rareware?
