Nintendo will sell the Inkling Mii Fighter costumes to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U players through the Nintendo eShop when Splatoon launches, meaning the DLC is not a GameStop exclusive.
During the Splatoon Nintendo Direct this month, Nintendo announced that customers who pre-order Splatoon from GameStop will receive the Inkling Mii Fighter costumes for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as a free bonus. The costumes include both male and female Inkling wigs and outfits as well as an Inkling Squid Hat.
According to a Nintendo customer support representative, however, these costumes will also be available for purchase from the Nintendo eShop beginning May 29. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Additionally, the Inkling Mii Fighter costumes will be available in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, according to the game’s official website. DLC for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game is bought through the in-game DLC Shop, not the Nintendo eShop.

They should at least make the inkling hats purchasable but I was told by a game stop employee when I pre ordered mine that they were giving away free inkling hats
