Nintendo of America has finally revealed when we can all download Lucas for Super Smash Bros on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Lucas is a paid downloadable content fighter and will be available to download from Sunday, June 14th. You can download Lucas beginning from 8am PT.

As much as I love Mother anything, I also have an equal amount of hate for DLC anything, so I shall have to pass on this until either the game gets a “Players Choice” re-release with all the DLC content or I wait many years from now until there is an openly well known umm…. lets say alternate way to obtain the content that does not have the Nintendo seal of approval, if you catch my drift.

Right but it’s always been optional and never been a requirement to get the full experience from a game. I don’t know, I just feel like it was for people who really enjoyed whatever game it is they are buying DLC for and wanted a little more out of it. That doesn’t seem like something to “hate”.
When you buy a game the last thing you wanna do is to have to soend more money to DL to unlock the games full potentional same with the ambinio toys…Games aint cool as they used to be… Now they just moneysuckers.
DLC also maintains an interest in the game. People play it longer AND it potentially attracts new buyers. Like I said before, it’s optional, not required for the full experience.
My hatred for DLC has many heads, but my main dislike is the fact that, yeah that content is some neat shit, but people have no sense of longevity or the legacy that game will have. Imagine if in some parallel reality Super Mario Bros 3 or Ocarina of Time had DLC content for it (somehow) that was only ever available on the systems they launched for. I rather have games that dont do ANY DLC at all outside of balancing or bug patches and player made content and just have the creators spend more time and effort putting all of their work into one single neat package with no need to have to track down extra bits and pieces to get the “complete experience”. The only extensions I would want for games are legit, full size expansion packs that could almost pass as full length games themselves if they didn’t require the base game to play it.
I think the majority of people are just gonna have to wait and see when the Wii U, 360 and PS3 are no longer supported and their online services go down to truly grasp the idea that, yeah DLC is great for the initial life span of the game, but down the line that content is gonna be a pain in the ass or impossible to re obtain. Just pray that companies make more Game of the Year and Players Choice versions of games with the extra content or start looking for some sites that can get you the content through more “unethical” avenues.

I really hope not. I understand DLC is extra content, but I still feel like it also symbolizes an incomplete game. I would have rather bought MK8 at a higher price and a longer waiting period to get all the content, or if thy really just wanted to spread out content to make the game last longer paying extra for a season pass at launch would have made me happier. Even if it’s reasonable Nintendo is going Ninten-crazy with DLC. Thankfully they aren’t bad as other companies.
I feel as though Nintendo isn’t making an unfinished product. Mario Kart 8 already had more content than the 3DS version right off the bat. Super Smash Bros already has an insane amount of playable characters right off the bat. All of Nintendo games are complete at launch (well except for splatoon but as long as the new modes and stuff is free, I’m happy)

Adapt or get left behind I guess, Im happy that they’re exploring new section of revenue to be honest, I Wont be supporting the mobile side because I just dont care for those type of games, but if it brings Ninty more money for their 2 other dedicated platforms then im all in for it. All we can really do is wait though, and hope that things work for the best.

Nintendo always uses what ever platform they use to its maximum potential, and uses their features like no other developer. I have a feeling that their mobile games will all be motion and touch based. They will most likely be very good, but I still don’t care to game that way.

I am a hard core long term Nintendo fan since I first played their arcade games and I have no love for their testing the waters of mobile garbage. Yeah sure extra revenue, but that “success” could also go to their head down the line and they may start to shift away from traditional gaming and their roots and charm more and more. Look no further then Konami, Sega and even Blizzard to an extent. I dont want them to become “corrupted” in a sense. I pray that they fail at mobile harder then they ever failed before. Harder then the Virtual Boy, the eReader outside of Japan and the original sales of Cubivore and EarthBound. I want them to fail so hard that they never even ponder the though of bothering with mobile ever again. Call it greedy, call it being against growth, but I want Nintendo to stick with its guns and stay dedicated to the fans that appreciate what Nintendo does best. I would gladly be all for a huge punch to the gut in sales for them if its entirely from failing at the mobile market. If people are not willing to buy a 3DS to play mobile Nintendo titles then they dont deserve to play Nintendo titles at all.
I get what you’re saying and all but the sad truth is Nintendo can’t rely on its fans anymore and Wii u is proof. They have to try new things. I don’t like mobile either but like God said they need to make new revenue in other areas and even 3ds which sells a lot isn’t as profitable as people think I’ve read. So they have to try new things for money. I’d rather they go mobile then stick to their roots and go bankrupt over time. Hopefully NX will turn out to be such a great system that sells well enough they don’t need mobile but that system won’t be out for some time.
I think I rather see them go 3rd party/bankrupt then completely become bastardized by mobile over time and ruin their great franchises and become the opposite of what they represented for so long.

Lucas’ back throw is the last thing you need to worry about. His up smash is. It was so ridiculous in brawl and half the reason people used him and thought they were actually good.

Yea I think it’s cause it’s fairly easy to hit cause of it’s wide range the fact it’s really powerful. I would play online except I get too much lag, and I always end up frustrated as all hell lol. I have played some PS3 games that didn’t lag, and my roomate used to play playstation all stars with no lag, so I don’t know if it’s nintendos internet or ours. All my friends around the country complain about the lag too though. So either all my friends have bad internet or nintendo does lol. All I know is I get frustrated as all hell. Lag may not occur sometimes, but there’s always input lag which I find worse. I’ll press something and it won’t respond for like 3 or 4 seconds kinda deal. And it’s not consistent either so it’s not like I can really “get used to it” when it changes constantly. It becomes more luck based than precision, which is what smash is all about. Even when I win and totally own someone, I find myself totally pissed off cause I know they probably are going through the same shit and even when I win it’s a struggle with the lag. It pisses me off cause brawl was so trash online I hoped they would ensure that wii u’s would be silky smooth and full of options, but sadly it isn’t. Anyway who are your mains? I have a decent list of mains myself. Different people say I am better with different people so I don’t know if I have a MAIN main.
I understand that, playing with lag can be annoying. I have really good internet so I don’t come across it often, which is nice. Part of it is Nintendo’s fault, the PS3 runs better. I main Fox. I’m good with the majority of the roster but if I was to enter a tournament I’d use him.

Well… considering that Lucas wasnt even thought of when the game came out, i understand that he must be paid. They spent a ton of time on him and put effort into him. THIS is dlc, not that crap that was cut from the original game.
How you know he wasnt thought? Have you hacked the game and have you seen it? Hackers found out that mewtwo was almost done for brawl but it didnt make the final cut so it wouldnt be a surprise if mewtwo and lucas were at some.point of the developement planed or even half-programmed… So yeah mewtwo was probably a cut from the original game and lucas could possibly be only that they cut it much before so now they have to work harder on him… Son please dont talk if you dont know, dont asume things as reality they are only probabilities as my thought are… Only probabilities : )

In gameplay and balancing? Probably, yeah, but none plays JRPGs because of their gameplay. Earthbound’s aesthetics, style and setting are MUCH more original than any of those other games, and this is coming from someone who considers FFVI to be the best Final Fantasy and a JRPG masterpiece. Apples and oranges.
Mother 3 (earthbound’s sequel) is better than all those games… even better than Earthbound.
Ridley is already on the wiiu version as a boss character attached to a stage so its totally imposible that he would appeare on the game sorry. I love that character too but for making him appeared they should change that stage boss and probably the size of ridley from that stage (he is almost as gigabowser) he has all the moves done because the boss have enough moves to be a fighter but they are not going to put him as a character and a boss.

Will I able to use him in a similar fashion to Ness, or will I have to make major adaptions? For one thing, his down throw buries, so I can no longer do Down Throw + Forward aerial, and for another, his neutral special is PK Freeze, which, of course, freezes. Would it still be viable to use it as an edge guarding option?
