Japan Is Getting A Metallic Red New Nintendo 3DS

That’s right! Gamers in Japan will soon be able to get their hands on a lovely looking Metallic Red New Nintendo 3DS XL. The console will make its debut at the same time as the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on August 27th. It should cost around 18800 Yen+ taxes.

Thanks, Daniel

  1. I’m going to be honest here. The U.S and Japan should have been swapped around in terms of which models to release. The U.S should have gotten the New Nintendo 3DS w/Faceplates and Japan shluld have only gotten the New Nintendo 3DS LL, because that is by far the most popular one there. Note-I live in the U.K, where both versions are available.

    1. Funniest thing is, we see all these people whining about the lack of cover plates, and it’s likely only those people would end up throwing down cash on a smaller 3DS. Only the whiners with baby hands. Kids nowadays in North America love big things; things they can hold from different angles during gameplay; things that can fill their eyes with a wide range of flickering lights, and that’s just not something the smaller 3ds is going to do. My best friend has 2 kids, both are younger than 8 years old and they went for the XL over the smaller edition prior to the new’s release. I’m not saying that this is the case for everyone, but there are definitely proper statistics that nintendo is basing these shipments around, there didn’t seem to be any complaints from Japan that they didn’t get the 2DS, because the LL reigns over all over there, similar to how the XL sales has demolished the regular 3DS sales in North America. It’s just been the overall smartest choice and the complaining has since calmed down these past couple months because people are finally getting it into their thick skulls that we won’t be seeing it come here anymore.

    2. To each their own. I prefer the bigger screen, the regular 3DS is just too small in my opinion. So weird to me when I see them both side by side. I can’t even imagine going back to that small screen.

I’m all for options though, so I feel regardless of what model sells more they should have given everyone the choice of both. It seems like that would make more money, since it isn’t like these 3DS’s are essentially that different or probably have a huge difference in manufacturing costs anymore.

Some people just do not like the XL, I get it. And that to me seems like a loss of potential cash that could be made. They could just bring them over in small quantities (not like they don’t already do this enough) to at least make sales from people who prefer the regular model, and those who refuse to get the new XL.
