The lovingly illustrated Splatoon Ikasu art book is now available for purchase in Japan and contains plenty of intriguing goodies for Splatoon fans. One of the things uncovered in the book, and spotted by Twitter user SalvadorRPG, is an unused coal mine area. Sadly this never made it into the game, but it would be pretty neat if we were able to get it as DLC.

Negitoro Coal Mine is just the japanese name for Bluefin Depot. You can tell it’s just concept art for that map by the fact that the quarter-pipe perch from the final map is illustrated there. As to why the top image isn’t a stage, it was most likely cut because it was too hard to design an arena in such an area
I got my imported copy of this artbook a week ago for like 20 bucks including shipping and I can really recommend getting it!
