TIME recently reviewed Xenoblade Chronicles X and have come away with the startling conclusion that it is easily the best RPG of 2015. There’s been plenty of notable RPG’s this year including The Witcher 3 and also Fallout 4, but the reviewer sounds confident when he says that it is the “best role playing game of 2015 hands down.” You can read the full review here or alternatively check out the conclusion, below.
The good: Huge and beautifully realized world to explore, excellent gameplay systems work well together
The bad: Insufficient documentation—and this is a game that could use a better manual
Bottom line: Hands-down the best roleplaying game of 2015

Never have and never will my brother had the game and beat and he said it was disappointing and I didn’t play it because I don’t like those kind of games but if I did I would only enjoy it possibly for a little bit but something along the lines of xcx is far better and it looks better

Without a doubt. I still haven’t been able to put it down. It’s so amazing. The story isn’t as good as the first Xenoblade. But it makes up for that by excelling in gameplay and scope. The world never becomes boring and there’s soooooo much to do. Definitely my GOTY.

Well that’s because Namie or Michelle aren’t here. They both think that The Witcher 3 is the best RPG and deserved Game Of The Year honors at the VGAs. Knowing them, they’ll probably say Time doesn’t know what they’re talking about but I agree with Time, it is the best RPG out there and my Game Of The Year
I also think Witcher 3 is GOTY. I’m just not trying to start a war or anything cause I respect others opinions. Also I haven’t played XCX so it’s not really like I can say anything bad about it anyways.

Meh. Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 were both higher up on my list of rpgs this year, not to say that this is bad, just really not my cup of tea.
to each their own, speaking of, fall out is not my cup of tea but i do have my eye on the witcher 3.
Fallout is hardly and RPG series anymore. It’s a harder call if you try to decide which is the better game (although my mind is clear in that matter too) but, as an RPG, XCX is the superior game.
Fallout four is not an rpg.
I could see your case with The Witcher 3 but Fallout 4 was very underwhelming when compared to it’s predecessor. I’m not saying it wasn’t a good game but it’s not in the same ballpark or on the same level as The Witcher 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Xenoblade Chronicles X in my opinion is the best overall game of the 3 but hey that’s just me

It simply depends on what you think an rpg should be. I for one DO NOT think of Fallout 4 as an rpg. Not even close. Now if your talking action adventure games with rpg elements, like the Witcher 3, or Xenoblade Chronicles X, then yes, X is the superior “rpg” experience. But I would say Divinty Original Sin was my favorite TRUE rpg this year. It is a true rpg, and anyone who has ever played Dungeons and Dragons, or the old school dungeon crawlers would really appreciate it. It’s a shame that so many people will never play it. Pillars of Eternity is another good one… Xenoblade Chronicles X is by far my favorite game of the year, and I’ve already put over a hundred hours in it. I just don’t think it was the best rpg of the year…. However I am a purest, and my beliefs are strongly apposed by many people.
Lets start with Star Wars out of phantom menace, attack of the clones, revenge of the sith best one was phantom menance others ones were average and now the new one also looks average the old guys are playing han solo and princess leia that is dumb they look stupid in the film and never show who skywalker is trust me they will choose some odd actor then who is the female actor who looks angry, i’m not interested in this star wars movie and start hated this movie since revenge of the sith then I thought to myself never will watch star wars movie ever again.
On with Xenoblade chronicles amazing open world environment, unique characters, mechs action and amazing story makes this the best game of 2015, I already said this if you read my other posts nothing new to me still i’m happy enough Time magazine loved the game and said top rpg of 2015 thanks a lot for that and they are right about this.

I can agree with that. Fallout 4 is more of a FPS/RPG hybrid then a full RPG like Xenoblade and The Witcher 3 was good, but it’s not in my top 5 or the year.

Considering Witcher 3 is more of an Adventure Brawler & Fallout 4 is more of an Open-World Action/Adventure, then of course XCX is the better RPG–it’s an Open-World, Real-Time…RPG. Might as well compare XCX to Castlevania or Zelda II.
I, however, would rather compare XCX to the likes of Tales & World of Warcraft; 2 franchises actually under the main RPG umbrella, rather than games that simply have RPG elements or fit the literal definition of ‘Role-Playing Game’ (most every game falls into that definition). Oh yeah, & compare XCX to Xenogears.
Bad enough there’s widespread confusion on what constitutes a console generation.
Directors Takahashi and Kojima (Koh, that is…) have done an outstanding job in creating this RPG masterpiece. Monolith Soft have stunned us before with games like Xenosaga Episodes I thru III, Baten Katos, and Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii). And now, Xenoblade Chronicles X is named Best RPG of the Year! 5 stars perfection!
The duo deserve an encore performance on Nintendo’s NeXt system soon. Maybe we’ll be seeing Xenoblade Chronicles X-2. ;-)
Time people have not obviously played Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, Shadowrun etc… Xenoblade is fun game but it is as much RPG as Fallout4 is, it is just grind for numbers
