In one of the more interesting lawsuits Nintendo has faced, patent-assertion company RecogniCorp LLC claimed that Mii characters infringed a U.S. patent that detailed ways of storing police sketch-artist data. Needless to say, the case was thrown out by Judge Richard A. Jones, who found the claim invalid. Ajay Singh, Nintendo of America’s Director of Litigation and Compliance, had this to say:
“We are very pleased with Judge Jones’ decision, which finally put an end to RecogniCorp’s attempt to cover inventions to which it has no rights. Nintendo will continue to protect its products and innovations against accusations of patent infringement.”
According to Business Wire, Judge Jones found that the patent was an “improper attempt to monopolize mathematical operations, which cannot be patented.” Another win for the Big N!

Yet another patent troll falls.
They were really reaching with that one, lol
Americans have no shame. smh.
Wasn’t this article done already? http://mynintendonews.com/2015/12/21/nintendo-wins-patent-case-brought-against-mii-characters/
Wow… that’s stupid.
Um… Dual post detected MNN, you already informed us of this.
As abhorrent as double posting is, I’m glad for this one. The other article was full of too much technical jargon. This one explains it in layman’s terms.
Yolo!
