Despite being a decent way into January, IGN has just published its best of 2015 list. What will interest you is that they’ve have chosen their favourite Nintendo 3DS and Wii U game of last year, but sadly the results aren’t too surprising. IGN awarded Super Mario Maker the award of best Wii U game of 2015 and the runner up was the superb multiplayer shooter Splatoon. The readers People’s Choice Award also went to Super Mario Maker. The publication also choose The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes as their favourite Nintendo 3DS title with the runner-up being Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The People’s Choice Award went to The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. Here’s what they had to say about both winners!
“Super Mario Maker is a great way to mark Mario’s 30th birthday, but it’s not concerned with being an overwrought history lesson. Instead, it’s a celebration that folds three decades of Mario into one accessible, powerful creation suite. The perpetual joke at the end of every 10 Mario Challenge run informing you that the Princess is in yet another castle hints at Super Mario Maker’s bigger promise: There will always be more levels to play thanks to the online creation community, and a virtually endless pool of challenges to overcome.”
“The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is more than just a fun co-op diversion from the large-scale solo adventures this series is known for. The challenging, intricate puzzles are great chaotic fun in local multiplayer or for a one-time run through in single-player. Limited communication tools make it difficult to play with adventurers online, but everywhere else it’s a success.”
