Digital Foundry Video: Resident Evil Zero GameCube Vs PlayStation 4 Comparison

Respected technology publication Digital Foundry have put together a rather handy video detailing the visual differences between the original GameCube version of Resident Evil Zero compared to the soon to be released remake on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The video features plenty of insightful commentary and shows the GameCube game running through the Wii. You can check out the comparison, below.

      1. Yeah, both versions are closer than one could imagine.

        However, we´ve learned from other remasters that devs apparently do not put enough effort to make the newer versions outshine that much — maybe that’s the reason the GCN version holds up well.

  1. I’ll take an RE4 remaster on Wii U as soon as they want to do that… Even though as others pointed out, just smoothing textures and enhancing the color isn’t enough for me, as I am seeing with the Twilight remaster. Wind Waker was really cool and worked well but I am not seeing the same kind of enhancement in these other titles

  2. Billy Coen’s muscles are unreal. His waist line is like 10 inches skinnier than his chest line. Jesus Christ.

  3. Jaded Professor Ridley Bowie X3 {R.I.P. David Bowie, the One & Only Goblin King! R.I.P. Alan Rickman, the Awesome Professor Snape!}

    With Resident Evil 0 getting an HD remaster for the PS4, this effectively ends the reign of Nintendo being the only one to have an exclusive Resident Evil game on their systems. I wonder if the PS4 would even be getting this RE0 remaster if the Wii U had been on par with the PS4 & Xbone. Oh well. Doesn’t matter now.

  4. Jaded Professor Ridley Bowie X3 {R.I.P. David Bowie, the One & Only Goblin King! R.I.P. Alan Rickman, the Awesome Professor Snape!}

    Anyone know if that cheerleader outfit for Rebecca is a preorder exclusive or not? I hope it’s not exclusive because I can’t afford to preorder this game at this point. I spent the last bit of my money on Life is Strange Limited Edition from Amazon & Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Gold Edition.

    Speaking of, if you have a PS4, an account with PlayStation Plus, you are a fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, you don’t have Assassin’s Creed 4 on any console, it’s season pass, or DLC specific to the season pass & you don’t mind getting digital, I highly suggest getting it now because it’s being sold for 20 bucks on the PS Store. 20 bucks out of 49.99. Oh & the deal ends January 19th so move fast.

    Yes. I’m shamelessly advertising for Sony’s PS4 AND Ubisoft. *shrug*

  5. I remember when RE Ø was supposed to be an N64 game (along w/ Dinosaur Planet, which later became StarFox Adventures). Seeing them shift to GameCube really showed just how big a leap 6th gen was…

    Too bad Eternal Darkness, another game w/ an N64 origin, was unable to rise to the same graphical bar, @ least in-game. Luckily, its gameplay & story were brilliant.

    If only Nintendo was gungho about Shadow of the Eternals, then maybe the absence of classic RE would be easier to bear. But if Fatal Frame was any indication, the darkness…shall be eternal…
