We may have solved the case of Sonic’s decline. A hint of an upcoming announcement was spotted deep within the hashtags of a Tumblr post by the hedgehog’s brand manager, Aaron Webber. Accompanying a photo of NFL running back, C.J. Anderson in a Sonic shirt, were a myriad of lengthy hashtags, a few of which read:
#we have something coming up in February that some of you will be interested in… #but we can’t talk about it yet!#don’t tell anyone you saw this hint in the tumblr tags – okay? #alright let’s wrap up with some delicious types of desserts to make everyone hungry…
Apparently, Webber is infamous in the Sonic community for these kinds of small teases. I’m no brand expert, but it would seem that hiding announcements isn’t the best thing for a blue-blur that’s slowly fading into obscurity. This year marks Sonic’s 25th anniversary, so hopefully the aforementioned announcement is of something to celebrate the milestone.
Thanks, Donny
They asked politely for people not to tell. Lol, this is the Internet.
“. . . hiding announcements isn’t the best thing for a blue-blur that’s slowly fading into obscurity.”
I wouldn’t say he’s fading into obscurity- more like Booming into infamy because of another Rise of bad games. As a Sonic fan, I reeeeaaally hope they can turn things around yet again.
I thought Aaron Webber left Sega?!?!
Hopefully something good they seemed pretty enthusiastic about making a good quality game but we will have to wait and see.
I hope the next anniversary game is actually something we get.
We didn’t get Sonic 06 and all we got from Sonic Generations was a dumbed down 3DS version.
…Would you really have wanted Sonic ’06 on a Nintendo console after how it turned out though?
When Sonic’s gameplay is the least fun of all, you’ve done something wrong.
Well yeah it didn’t turn out great, but that certainly didn’t stop me from feeling gipped before it came out.
Didn’t SEGA comment about Sonic returning to its roots? I was never really interested in the 2D Sonic games, so I don’t think I’ll be enthusiastic about the new announcement.
Sonic sucks and is a scrub
“hot chocolate with real chocolate bars melted into it” XD
I liked Generation, Colours and yes, I liked Lost World to, Sega, don’t screw up this time, I feel is like your last chance with Sonic and his reputation.
Inb4 this turns out to be Sonic Boom Fire & Ice. Kappa

Why? Why would that be bad? I’ve loved the Sonic social media even since Webber took over, and its because of stuff like this. He’s always dropping hints to keep us excited and engaged.
