Nintendo previously announced that it would release more information about its next system, code-named NX, this year. As the first announcement of any NX information, Nintendo confirmed that NX is scheduled to launch in March 2017. NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year.

As I said a million times before: it’s not coming out this year, but rather, it’s coming out next year. (though, it’s going by its handheld pattern rather than their console pattern, which is certainly interesting. Also, they’re not going to talk about it at E3, which is also a change of strategy.)

This is certainly following their handheld pattern when it comes to announcing and releasing systems; their handhelds are typically launched in the Spring.
That much is true, the bad Zelda news had me blinded. It could mean that the home console will be released at a later date.
The bad news is, that means Zelda gets delayed beyond March 2017.
While you could just be correct on that, the thing is this: we don’t even know WHAT it is, so we can’t say for sure if it’s a console or handheld. The only hints we have is that they say it’s not going to be the “next version of Wii or Wii U”, but even that statement is pretty ambiguous in itself. And then there’s the rumours all suggesting it’s a handheld, but they’re just rumours and they could be completely derailingly (not a word, but you know what I mean) off.
As I’ve always say: we’ll just have to wait and see (as much as many of us don’t want to do the very thing).

It has been confirmed by multiple sources that the NX is, at the very least, a home console. Namely by the head of Koei Tecmo. I don’t see how the rumors suggest it’s a handheld. If anything, they suggest the opposite. What info are you referring to exactly?
… I think I might have said my statements in such a way that states that I was under the impression that it WILL be a handheld, (when I really did mean that all the rumours and hints suggest that it’s a console).
If that were the case, I apologize. All I’m saying is that we just don’t know what it is and the only reason why I entertained the idea a tiny bit was because I just it was strange for Nintendo to use their strategy of announcing and releasing a handheld system on a console.

First I saw that Nintendo and the NX was trending on Twitter. Then I started seeing all of this NX news. And all I have to say is…….my interest in E3 pretty much died. I don’t even care if it happens now. The only good news about the NX releasing next year is that it gives me more time to save my money after my wallet gets raped on May 10th from buying a PS4.

Well I honestly think the all the people who bought the wii u primarily for zelda was fucking gimped. Which means now there’s going to be a version for more better than the wii u version. Which means I have to drop the fucking wii u and buy the Nx. I’m no longer supporting the wii u. I believe we should at least get some sort of discount or some shit for trading in the wii u for the Nx. But idk that’s my opinion.

I’m okay with this. I’m enjoying the MP games, and I want them to be supported by the community for a little while longer.
The release date I can understand and Zelda U getting a Simultaneous Release I can understand, but not showing it at E3 this year, is literally a “What were they thinking” moment. Surely, they would want to Hype it up as much as possible, and E3 is the biggest stage. Not showing it at E3, is just asking for it to do horribly, because only the core Nintendo Fans, watch the Directs.
But if the nx were to be shown then many people outside of the core nintendo fans and drones would watch the direct to see what the console can do

This Nintendo E3 event may finally show a new F-Zero, Metroid, Smash Bros NX remaster, Splatoon remaster or A new Splatoon for NX, and so on! This will mostly showcase NX titles by Nintendo and 3rd party games! Now if they were to bust out a virtual boy 2 to compete in VR again, which is a good possibilty, then that too!
I wish that would happen, but I highly doubt we would see any nx games before nx reveal. Hopefully we get something like this when the system is actually revealed.

Naturally they’ll survive – they have a huge amount of cash in the bank and Amiibo has been helping, but it would have been a little bit more encouraging for them to have some other demos, even if it would be for the few Wii U games.
This also would have been a prime opportunity to show off any demos for the NX. If it’s releasing in 11 months, the fact that they won’t have anything even remotely playable seems slightly troubling.
Well they’ll have Zelda U. I already said on another article that there better be enough details on Zelda to make a game in and of itself. But unless they announce something new for U at E3, which seems highly unlikely, Zelda’s all we got.
I am disappointed that we won’t see the NX yet, but as someone else said, if it’s not ready, it’s not ready; and unfortunately I’ve never seen games revealed for a system before the system itself.
I agree that showing off games before a console isn’t the way to go, but this could have been akin to a ‘double reveal’: show the console the first day, and then immediately say that on the showroom floor you’ll be able to play demos on it – people would flip out.
Although I think Nintendo should have revealed the NX in the first quarter of this year so people could be hyped for games to see at E3, much like what Sony did with the PS4, but oh well.

And while my prediction was off by such (2016 would have been the smart decision, but hey, it’s Nintendo…) it also highlighted my other comments in the past that noted a 2017 launch would not help Nintendo. This coupled with the delay of Zelda simply reinforces the ill will the company will receive, and it doesn’t look like they have much to tide things over aside from Miitomo and mobile crap. The NX will need to be truly outstanding and have an amazing launch in order to make up for their shit.

I was telling everybody and suggested that the NX shouldn’t release until 2017 and I was right but of course since the rumors were saying that the NX would come out this year I went along and thought that it was this year too. I think this is a very smart move for Nintendo. Now they will have time to future-proof the system and make sure they do all the right things they are suppose to do but what I can’t understand is why it isn’t being shown at E3. I don’t know it just seems weird but hopefully Nintendo knows what they’re doing. It shall be interesting come these later months
Bad decision(s) of Nintendo once more. A december-release would have been so much more profitable than a march release. Could Zelda be the reason? It’s not going to make it by december and they want that title so badly as a release game. So they rather delay the NX, than releasing it without the new Zelda.
