Good news for those of you with plenty of points to spend as the My Nintendo service has been updated for May. There’s a wealth of goodies available that you might be interested in. Basically they’re all discounts, but there’s some good games to be had including Pikmin 3 for 15 percent off and 30 percent off Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Here’s the deals for both North America and for Europe.

- 15% off Dr. Luigi – 230 Platinum points
- 15% off Mini Mario: Minis on the Move – 150 Platinum points

Aw.. I already have New Leaf & Captain Toad and pre-ordered Fire Emblem Fates.
But I would dig that New Moon. Sadly I live in Europe
“There’s a wealth of goodies” no… there isn’t. Discounts are NOT goodies. I miss club Nin
Nintendo lost me with this shit. So let me get this straight.
Nintendo want me to play Miitomo and spend my dollars on clothes and stuff.
Nintendo will then give me coins to get 15 percent off to buy a from. I’m giving you more money.
By buying this game, Nintendo will then give me gold coins to get 15 percent off to buy another game they consider to be a gold coin valued game.
I then use these gold coins and spend more money to Nintendo.
Does anyone see anything fucking off about this compared to what Club Nintendo offered? I brought games, I got coins, I used coin for free shit.
Nintendo lost me with this shit. So let me get this straight.
Nintendo wants me to play Miitomo and spend my dollars on clothes and stuff.
Nintendo will then give me silver coins to get 15 percent off crappy games to buy from them. I’m giving Nintendo more money.
By buying this game of silver coins value, Nintendo will then give me gold coins to get 15 percent off other crappy games to buy. I will be buying a game they consider to be a gold coin valued game.
I then use these gold coins and give more money to Nintendo.
Does anyone see anything fucking off about this compared to what Club Nintendo offered? I brought games, I got coins, I used coin for free shit.
as of right now my nintendo is kinda bs and the 6 month limit is retarded. what am I going to spend my coins on in 6 months… THERE ARE NO GAMES.
-||Well it has barely been operational for a little over a month, I’m sure a few more changes/addons will be present before the first deadline, hopefully physical rewards too||-
Then why start it now and force people to HAVE to use your coin in 6 months time. That’s basically saying that you are forcing people to use their coins on something that gives us 15% or 30% for an old games to make us buy the games. Even with the 15 to 30 percent, I still would pay more for the game from Nintendo than getting it from Amazon or some other retail store.
To me, Nintendo is also saying that you’re making it more clear that NX might not be a physical game system and is going straight digital like Nintendo has been hoping to push. If they want cost down while making the system stronger than the PS4 and X1, they will push digital only. Not supporting Blu-Ray and DVD’s on the Wii U showed that they want digital only.
Going digital for Nintendo ensures their games don’t end up on black marketed torrent sites. I’m seeing the signs with just how My.Nintendo is. I’m right, I’m going to wonder how GameStop will adjust to this. They clearly see that physical games are dying and are making ideal moves on how people will sell digital date somehow.
-||They already stated that there will be physical rewards later on too, whether that also concerns games remains to be seen||-
-||Well if many of you didn’t feel “forced” which High Command isn’t forcing anyone, watching their statistics over low sales, they will be forced to improve their rewards||-
-||Further more like I’ve said, it has barely been out for 1 month and there more occassions where they can add or improve it before the first deadline arrives||-
-||Other than that, no matter how good or awful these “reward” systems are, it’s still free and no one loses anything in the end||-
-||But if you buy games only to get points, then you clearly missed the point of gaming to begin with as Nintendo isn’t obligated to create these things in the first place either, that goes to the Sonyans and Xbots too||-
finally some actual logic is spoken

WHAT I’m supposed to play the games I buy and not leave them in the box and use the points xD
First, I buy games to play games and enjoy them. If you are going to offer me coins to be used, I will use them. But again, you’re not giving me anything to use them on. You’re giving me coins to use on discounts to buy games for a higher price even with the discount. This makes me see that the point of giving me the coins is pointless. Also, you do not get coins for buying physical games, only digital. My point to this is that, I see a digital only system down the road because your logic of a rewards system being connected mostly to NX and mobile is what I believe to be the reason for My.Nintendo as well. That being said, if you look at what the rewards offer at this moment, it is only digital stuff. Physical rewards are going to come, but I don’t see you earning anything by physically buying games. That’s the point.
-||In the end, you don’t lose anything like ‘ve said, and maybe one day in the future they’ll put physical game rewards||-
The forceful part is overstated, yes, I admit. You’re right. I guess what I am trying to say is that I feel like Nintendo is trying to give me two options: buy this or lose the coins. In the end, I’m not really getting anything if I’m not using the coins. I’m buying games to get coins, I’m being given free coins. But I think the free coins are only for them to make money and doesn’t feel like a reward system at all. It feels more like the bait to catch the fish. Hopefully that makes more sense.
-||Well if this system of rewards doesn’t reward our people in the future either, they’ll either improve or shut it doen completely||-
6 months is usually the industry standard for coin/point expirations. Very rarely is it shorter or longer than that. Frankly, I’m surprised that the previous expiration was (I believe) two years with Club Nintendo, so Nintendo is following the industry here. Nothing wrong with that.
As for games, there are games, but looking at your statements, it doesn’t look like you’re interested in them (also, it’s just mainly 3DS and Virtual Console games for now).
This is mainly looking like something for the NX, 3DS, and mobile games. We’re only getting this now because people demanded for it to be here sooner, not necessarily because they wanted to release it right now.
I’m pasting this here too before people complain too much:
Although some aspects suck now and will suck no matter how much time it passes (expire dates, for example), you have to keep in mind they can’t blow out all their load in the first month. Not to mention, this whole thing has kind of been slapped into current gen systems. The NX should take much better advantage of it, and the discounts and similar figures might be reworked once the system this was designed for launches.
Wait a year, then see what happens.
-||This was primarily meant for the NX anyway||-
Exactly my point. Between the next mobile games and the fully integrated (into both My Nintendo and Nintendo Account) NX, I’m sure this system will begin to shine.
Discounts are one thing. But these sucks. 15% off on 2-year old games? And that’s a reward, not just a price-drop?
Why bother using points to get money off the digital version of a game when you can buy the physical version for far cheaper second-hand? The ‘rewards’ shop really needs to be cleaned up. Why can’t I separate the Miitomo stuff from the things I actually care about? Is Warioware: Touched! any good? That seems to be the best thing on there that can be bought with Platinum Points.
Have you ever played a warioware game? if you have then you’ll know what to expect. Personally I like the wario ware game because they are funny.
I only need 10 more gold coins to get that new luigi u dlc, i’m coming for you luigi
Are you really gonna use up your coins on that? I suggest you save those up for something better. That DLC is only $20. I bet the amount of money you spent on games to get those coins was probably more than that!
This new reward system is a flop.
Great, discounts on games I already own!
What a horrible ‘rewards’ system. I’ve lost all hope.
I really don’t like his rewards system. they need more Platinum Deals =/
Dumb. Yeah, it’s early, but is anyone really surprised that Nintendo would do this kind of shit? I’m not optimistic that things will change, either.
I thought that the new rewards program was going to be GOOD? But so far it’s been nothing but a crap filled cesspool. Are there EVER going to be physical rewards again? Also, how the heck do you even earn points now? I’m clueless.
I miss cheating and earning PLATINUM STATUS on Club Nintendo every year.
Shit rewards for a shit rewards programme. I’m not surprised. Anyone who expects this to get better, needs to wake up.
These discounts are useless most of the time you can buy the game on Amazon for cheaper than the download with the discount. I’d rather have physical rewards or like virtual console stuff like club Nintendo did. Hope this changes soon.
Im glad im not the only one who thinks this “reward system” is kinda crappy….especially considering the competision…
i mean… I would prefer a suscription fee like PS+ o Xbox Gold to get some Virtual Console/Indie games montly… but grinding platinum points for a miserable 15% in some games is just a waste of time… and the gold coins don’t even get you significant rewards either…and you need to spend a lot more to earn those gold coins….
This reward system is pretty bad. PlayStation Plus gives you discounts without the need for a limited amount of coins that eventually expire. You only have to pay for PlayStation Plus once a year to get these discounts & there is no limit or having to worry about the benefits expiring after 6 months. In order for Nintendo’s reward program to make the discounts even matter, you have to buy multiple games a year instead of one low yearly price. If you still think you are only paying for online play with PlayStation Plus, you are either clueless as to what it really offers you or you are simply hating on it simply because it’s not Nintendo doing it. Personally, the former is the lesser of two evils because being ignorant isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
That aside, why isn’t America getting a discount for Fire Emblem Fates? More importantly, why isn’t that discount higher? Unless Europe isn’t getting a censored version of the game. In which case, that discount is well worth it if you have a European system. I’d so take them up on that offer if I had a European 3DS.
As I’ve said before, I’d pay for a subscription service from Nintendo. I want more focus put into improving the online service and a universal account can be the start. It is absurd that they haven’t already done this. Offering games like Super Mario 64 for 90 Gold points is a JOKE. One of those missions they tell you to do is have $70 in downloadable purchases on the Nintendo eshop in order to earn 80 Gold points. That isn’t even enough to get SM64. And I don’t know if my eyes were deceiving me or what, but I could’ve sworn New Super Luigi U asked for 120 Gold points. WHAT? LMAO! GTFO! That’s $20 DLC!
No, my mistake. It’s 170 points. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS INSANITY?!
