With the Nintendo NX coming next year everyone is curious to see which third-party developers will make an effort with the platform. One of the biggest video game developers EA have told the BBC that they will only develop for the platform if it makes sense to do so. The company also revealed that they’re in constant communication with Nintendo, so it does sound reasonably promising.
“I personally and the company are huge fans of Nintendo, they’re the reason why I started making games,
“We’re in constant communication with them and when they come to market something – and if it makes sense for us – we’ll be there.”

They’ve always said something like this, and look at what what happened in all three cases. I’m doubtful about this, but we’ll see what happens.
It is the standard PR statement, if there was a new playstation and Xbox consoles coming and I’m talking about a next generation console they would say the same thing. If they were developing something they would not say so until Nintendo revealed it.
Well this means they are currently developing nothing. And plan on nothing and know nothing about NX.
Not a good start. Ugh
But they would have to have a dev kit by now wouldn’t they? The NX is less than a year away. They must know by now, what the system is. Either they’re not impressed with the hardware or they just don’t want to develop until they find out who else is on board.
It’s been rumored that EA does have a NX dev kit, in fact….it’s being said that they were one of the first developers who received one. The other part of the rumor is that EA wants Nintendo to have bundles for their games and for them to get multimedia apps like ESPN to promote their sports titles. If EA is playing the waiting game it’s either because Nintendo doesn’t have any interest in EA’s demands or like you said they want to see how other 3rd party publishers/developers respond to this system
Well if that’s what EA is trying to do, I say screw em. If other major 3rd party devs get on board the console will be a success and EA will miss out. There’s no reason Nintendo should have to release a bundle for a third party. They’ve got plenty of their own IP’s to worry about.
While people like us don’t really care for EA, they are very important for the casual gamer. Not having EA on board with the NX would be a BIG negative and a very bad way to start the NX’s life.
Well obviously it would be better to have them on board than not. What I’m saying is they’re not absolutely necessary for the console to be successful. If other big 3rd party devs get on board, the console will sell and EA will be missing an opportunity.
If we got Ubisoft, Bethesda, Activision, Valve, Bungie, Square Enix, etc. the console would be plenty appealing to gamers and EA would be missing out.
While some gamers (including myself) may not necessarily like or even really play many of their games, having their support would be extremely helpful to Nintendo. Imagine it like a muffin or something. (Nintendo’s muffin) It’s nice and looks tasty, but a chunk of it is missing. Wtf? That chunk is EA. MS and Sony have full muffins though. You get the picture? Lol.
Ok ONCE AGAIN, “…obviously it would be better to have them on board than not. What I’m saying is they’re not absolutely necessary for the console to be successful.” I said that before.
The original point I was trying to make was that Nintendo doesn’t have to release an EA bundle to get them on board. If EA sees that other big devs are publishing for the nx and the system is selling, they will come along.
On an unrelated point, MS and Sony are also missing a chunk of the “muffin” in the form of Nintendo IP. Granted that not everyone cares for Nintendo’s games and MS and sony have their own IP; but when it comes to first party titles, Nintendo has everyone beat.
Now do you get the picture? : )
That’s not the same thing… Those are exclusives. Every console has those. Not what I’m talking about.
I know the other consoles have their exclusives. In fact I said that in my previous statement. The point I was trying to make (and I should have made it more clear in my comment) is that while MS and Sony have their own exclusives, they can’t hope to match Nintendo’s exclusives. Nintendo is better equipped to handle an absence of 3rd party devs than either of the others would be.
So even if MS and Sony have every single 3rd party dev, they still can’t match Nintendo’s first party offerings and thus are still missing something.
That’s subjective.
Needs to be succesful to gamers, not just financially. Look at the Wii. Mass Effect, Battlefield, Dragon Age, etc. Nonexistent on that platform despite selling well. Lmao.
I’m not speaking financially. I don’t expect the casual crowd to be reliable in the future. Look at the wii u. Nintendo came out with it thinking that all the non-gamers who bought the wii would come back and buy the u, but they just weren’t interested.
So Michael Pachter was right.
That EA sucks dick. lol
So the apocalypse is coming…

Amen
GTFO EA.
I’d be more concerned, but looking at my 360 games I don’t think I have a single EA title, so no biggie. But dear Gods Nintendo, make sure you get a few 3rd party devs on board before you launch. Or hire 1,000 new developers yourself to keep the games coming early and often.
I believe them. I don’t believe they keep supporting it if their sub-par games don’t sell, but I believe them.
Bring Battlefront to the NX with exclusive Starfox and Metroid characters and ships. I’d buy the game again just to get that tbh
also, throw Jedi Link in there with a Master Lightsaber for the lulz, I hope you’re reading this EA.
I expect to be rolling all over that laughing floor in the other thread, keep fueling that fire!
They already know what the NX is and what it does. If the NX isn’t something weird their making a game or two for it right now. His statement means nothing.

I’m not an EA fan, but if EA isn’t on board and doesn’t bring FIFA or Madden to the NX, it will fail. If you want the NX to succeed, you should be hoping EA develops for it. Rockstar, Activision and Bethesda also need to be on board if the NX is to have a chance at success.
EA already has a dev kit according to multiple rumors. I mean, why wouldn’t they have one? I wouldn’t doubt that they’re prepping 3 launch games.
Time will tell of course. (we all saw what happened last time)
Strange thing is last time doesn’t equal to this time. Each generation is handled differently. There may be a time when someone says the thing but it will be toward Microsoft or sony. There is nothing to learn or gain from this type of PR message. There are some people just looking for a meaning into anything.
I have faith in Nintendo. I believe this time will be different than the Wii and Wii U. Better than both.
