Zelda: Breath Of The Wild European And American Box Art Comparison

It’s quite common for Zelda box art to differ by region, the North American covers often being drastically different from the rest of the world. This is a trend that is continuing with the Switch version of Breath of the Wild. The European and American art are completely different. Which do you prefer? Tell us below.

      1. Yep. I got confused as UK retailers are showing the NA on their sites for pre-ordering so I was only familiar with that version.

      2. Haha, good question. I didn’t know either. I’m guessing the darker one is, due to the rating system. In America, we get the “E for Everyone” but when I buy movies from overseas, it’s always, “Pegi X” – So I’m GUESSING the darker one is the American one… \(0.0)/

  2. European, as it doesn’t remind me of Skyrim and hundreds other box arts, and does a better job of reflecting the game’s vivid colours.

The Gamestop I went to wasn’t taking preorders of games or accessories. :/ My chances of getting the Master Edition are now fucking 0 as my Gamestop was open no more than 30 minutes once we got there so that was probably my ONLY chance! I nearly missed the Switch preorder since the store I went to only had 2 preorders available! Fucking 2, damn it! @.@ My hype would have been ruined right now if I had missed my preorder because of shitty stock. Since I didn’t miss my chance with the Switch preorder, Nintendo dodged a bullet as I’d be steaming right now otherwise.

      1. Sorry to hear that man, I know my store at 10AM didn’t have the SKU for the master one, so I drove to another store in a more ghetto area, and they had one, then I went to the mall and got one for my roomate, and then called my original store with the sku so they could let people know, and even went back around like noon with my OTHER roomate and was able to get her one too. So yea gamestop kinda messed up with the skus.

It sucks the Wii U version of BotW isn’t getting a special or master edition. I guess Ninty wants to give people a reason to get the game on Switch instead of Wii U.

Even though I’m happy with the Switch, except for the two strikes I gave today, it sucks so many aren’t & I can understand why in spite of my own happiness. But fanboys will be fanboys & think ONLY of themselves.

              1. Yea I’m still unsure how I feel, I know I’m not happy with the amount of games. After the droughts we had for wii u, they should have had far more games at launch, and even launch window. I’m hoping that the games will be 1080p & 60FPS for games made for the Switch first, and the 900P for Zelda is only due to it being a Wii U game first. 60FPS looks great, Mario Kart 8 speaking of which benefited greatly from it. I hope the system is powerful enough to continue to get 3rd party games.

    1. *Puts on a cowboy hat and twirls a revolver* Damn straight! I ain’t play’in no “Zelda, Sissy in the City!” And by the way, I think ya left all yer tea in the harbor!

Sometimes simple & generic is better.

I like both as they both look great. But I will say I prefer the American one.

  5. I don’t particularly DISLIKE either one of them, and could be perfectly content with either one in my collection……but that said, I DEFINITELY prefer the American one, like, no contest – and I don’t say that just because I’m an American. The European box art to Mega Man 1 and 2 on the NES from waaaaay back in the day was way better than the American ones. So it goes both ways. But in this particular case? Yeah! Stars and Stripes forever!

Of course, the Switch is region free, and both regions have the same language options, yes? So why not just import the version you prefer if you find your region’s art on the losing end of the exchange then? Problem solved! In fact, even though the American box art looks way better, if it doesn’t cost a fortune I might just import the European version anyway because then I’ll be the only kid on the block to have it! :-D

    Cheers!

  6. I really like them both, if Link wasn’t looking back at you in the Euro one, I might have picked that as my favorite. I like how bright and colorful it is, that green grass looks nice.
