Breath Of The Wild Development Team Believe That Iwata Was Watching Over Them

Satoru Iwata played a massive role in Nintendo’s history, but his legacy is still a driving force at the company. According to Breath of the Wild’s director, the game’s development team felt that their late president was watching over them. In an interview with The New Yorker, Fujibayashi talked about how his legacy provided them with a drive to improve. Check out a quote below, but the full interview can be read here.

When he passed away, there were moments we’d come up with an idea which we’d be excited to talk to Iwata about. Then we’d remember he was no longer here. Miyamoto told me it was the same for him. He’d come up with an idea at the weekend and would feel excited to speak to Iwata about it on Monday, only to remember. The sadness runs deep. This is approaching spiritual talk, but we had the sense that he was watching over our work. That became a source of motivation, a drive for us to improve and be better.

  1. This is so touching. I was wondering when I’d hear something about Iwata. Ever since the Switch released, I’ve been thinking about him. Because I know he had a heavy influence in what was going on with the Switch. I always wondered if he knew the NX would be called the Switch, or if that name came after his passing?

  3. Iwata wasn’t a perfect business man, but he was a great man, and I have a ridiculous amount of respect for him like most others here. I didn’t always agree with his decisions, but he was a big part of Nintendo’s heart and soul.

While Nintendo did say horses can get killed, I tested it myself by attacking a horse with arrows & it eventually died. So I can confirm myself they can die. Spoiler Alert: Anyway, there is actually a horse god you can revive by giving him 1000 rupees that can revive a horse that gets killed. He’s somewhere in the southeast corner of the map. You’ll probably recognize his location when you see it. Not sure if he’ll charge you or if there are limits yet since I also haven’t had a horse die yet.
