Notice Of Allowance Given To Nintendo For ‘Eternal Darkness’ Trademark

It would seem that Nintendo are still interested in bringing Eternal Darkness back in some form or another. Although we know that Nintendo have successfully registered the Trademark and it’s a normal part of the Trademark process (I reported on this a while back), it’s worth noting a Notice of Allowance for Eternal Darkness was issued on May 9, 2017. You can view the whole file here.

Nintendo of America can now begin to submit a Statement of Use (SOU) or a Request for Extension of Time to file a Statement of Use (Extension Request) every six months. Extension Requests can be processed for a maximum of five times.

It’ll be interesting to see if  this years E3 holds any answers.

Would you like to see another Eternal Darkness see the light of day?

  1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

    ||Eternal Darkness will never see the light of day because it only stays in eternal darkness…||

  2. Yes please! Definitely want this game. I’ll settle for an HD remaster, but a sequel would be even better… although, not quite sure how you make a sequel to a game that spans across all of history… Still, some one get it sorted and make it happen! :D

    1. I still own the game and my Gamecube. So I can play Gamecube graphics anytime. But with larger TVs, a remaster would help preserve the game as older games look worse and worse as tv resolution goes up.

Skyward sword is unplayable on my TV thanks to Nintendo stubbornly sticking with SD with the Wii.

        1. Same here, but then I restarted and finished it on my N3DS. Being able to take it anywhere and it not looking like crap allowed me to log the hours needed to finish it. And it was truly a masterpiece. I took a break from partn2, but am excited to get back into it! (Well, not part 2, X I mean)

    1. Anubis, the Devil Dog

Oh O.o .. I thought you were going to say something else in that last sentence….

      …… ._.

  3. I only it the game 6 months ago and I loved it, twas amazing, love a full blown sequel on switch :)

  4. Needs a sequel–an amazing game. The original is wonderful but it’s dated in some standards, and could use updating and expansion with new mechanics and plot.

  5. I played the original recently, and I just couldn’t take it. It’s a very dated game. I’m sure it was fantastic when it came out, but it just doesn’t hold up.

    1. From what I understand, it’s a psychological horror game and Miyamoto was one of the designers who helped contribute towards it. It’s hilarious to picture a man who has made light hearted games like Mario and Pikmin contributing towards something like this.

    1. Then I would rejoice. Metroid or this, but if they pull cranky Kong out of their ass, I’m gonna… well, I guess nothing since I already stopped giving them my money. :]

  6. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

HD Remaster please! Otherwise, a straight up VC port is just gonna look like dogshit on my 4K telly!
