Games Are Looking Even Better With The Latest Update For Wii U Emulator CEMU

Modders have now added ultrawide resolutions to CEMU, a profoundly experimental emulator for the Wii U that’s currently available on Windows PC. In update 1.8.0, CEMU users can now play Wii U games with 21:9 resolution support. Check out the video below and also I’ve included a screen grab to show the comparison:

  1. I had to sell my Wii U for the Switch… it was totally worth it! But, I am glad that emulation is fast forwarding like this to a very recent last-gen console, more power to the emulator lovers!

    1. i did the same. also sold mk8 and bough the deluxe. i want bayonetta 2 port and smash + xenoblade ports
      in the future. so i will buy them and play them again since i sold them also

  2. This is so…………….Nintendo news………………………………………………………………………………………………..NintenMau5 you trolling to :D

    1. Emulation isn’t piracy and showing it off doesn’t advocate or advertise piracy.

      Yes, some people use emulators to pirate games, but it’s original intent is to allow people who own the games to be able to play them without worry or fear of damaging the disc. Development of emulation itself helps many programmers to learn and improve their developing skills on programs.

      1. I find it fascinating due to the fact that there are fan games such as Botw NES being made by talented fans who wants to create something out of love and respect for a franchise, not asking for any money, the only things that goes into most fan games are time, blood and sweat.

        Plus Botw NES is nothing like the actual Botw game and the original NES Zelda, it’s a different experience so it’s not even hurting Nintendo, even No Mario’s Sky is nothing but a silly spoof. But Nintendo’s lawsuit department seem to not care to thoroughly examine fan games before reconsidering the materials there are, nope they just simply attack like white blood cells and send DMCA’s.

        So.. modders are free to take Breath of the Wild and make it publicly domain which any body can download on pc for no charge. An actual licensed game that is developed and distributed by Nintendo.. and this is justified to being acceptable? Umm.. okay, that’s fair I guess.

  3. For the people who keep claiming this is advocating piracy, please educate yourself on the subject. Emulation is NOT illegal NOR does the community around CEMU, Dolphin, or Citra tolerate piracy. They each ask you to rip the ROMs from your own personal copy of the game. ROMs also aren’t illegal, but distributing them is. You’ve always been allowed to make backups of your games as long as you don’t redistribute them.

    1. The problem is, .0000001% of emulator users rip their own games, or even know how to. And emulator creators know it. So they are accessories to a crime. So yes, in practice, emulation = piracy.

      1. That’s not how laws works. People can pirate games whether or not an emulator exists or not so the creators of emulators aren’t accessories to a crime. That would be like saying knife manufactures are accessories in a crime because some people will use them to stab people. If someone chooses to use something in an illegal way, that’s all on that individual.

        Many emulators require BIOS from the actual systems and don’t provide any instructions on how to obtain those and both Citra and Dolphin provide explanations on how to copy the games directly from your 3DS and Gamecube/Wii. With PSX and PS2 games, it’s actually really easy to make ISOs of your original games since they’re standard DVDs and CDs.

  4. This is big news today. And as much as I love this game, a if they can get the DLC on it, I’d love to play it in Ultra widescreen HD!

  6. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

    Emulation is illegal? xD Well no one ever said the internet was full of intelligent people.

      Anyway, in reality, the people bitching about this are just worried this means some people will be less inclined to buy the Switch & it’s current lack of games since Zelda, it’s biggest selling point, can be played on PC now.
