Square Enix has revealed a brand new RPG in development for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC which is titled Lost Sphear and is coming early 2018. The intriguing game is developed by the Tokyo RPG Factory who were behind the gorgeous I Am Setsuna, which is also on Nintendo’s current platform. Here’s the description of the game as well as the first trailer.

The adventure of Lost Sphear begins in a remote town where a young boy, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. To stop the world from being lost forever, Kanata and his comrades set out to rebuild the world around them with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter.

As an ominous power threatens the fabric of reality, a young man chosen by destiny must arise to face a phenomenon never seen before. Awaken the power of Memory to restore the Lost and rebuild the world! Lost Sphear is coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2018.

  1. This, in my opinion, looks way more promising than I am Setsuna. Still no fan of the chibi art style, but I like music, environments and story more than what I am Setsuna seemed to offer. Kinda looking forward to this one!

    1. Having played Setsuna I must say this one look’s exactly the same. A nice RPG. But nothing worth remembering. I will definitely play it but my expectations for the Tokyo RPG Factory studio died with Setsuna

      1. IMO, this looks like a step up from Setsuna in about every way. More varied (and more impressive) environments, “better” soundtrack, a story that seems more interesting in concept, Basically, back then, I was only interested in Setsuna in the first place because it seemed like it was inspired by Chrono Trigger, yet it captured none of Chrono Trigger’s spirit and felt more like “filler”. This game, on the other hands, looks like it could not only capture the spirit of Chrono Trigger better, but also like it can be its own, full-fledged game that is more than just “filler”.

        Of course those are just my impressions from the trailer. I know that none of this has to be the case, but for now, I remain slightly optimistic.

        1. I expressed myself wrong, I was talking more about the core of the game. Go to from point A to point B. And had the feeling it will have the same design flaws. In that last aspect I hope they correct them but watching the trailer I couldn’t help thinking they won’t.

  2. Great news and as a RPG fanboy I’m excited. The Switch’s 3rd party support is already looking far more promising than the Wii U’s and its only been out for nearly 4 months

  3. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

    I enjoyed the music for this trailer & the artstyle looks nice. The story sounds interesting, too. As for it being a chibi artstyle, I don’t think it’s chibi more so than the viewpoint making it look like a chibi artstyle. They look to have normal body types to me.

      It will most likely be a PS4 buy, though.
