Video: GameXplain Goes Hands-On With Metroid: Samus Returns

GameXplain recently attended an event hosted by Nintendo in New York and had the lucky opportunity to sit down with Metroid: Samus Returns which is coming to 3DS later this year. They’ve now uploaded a hands-on impression video and although they weren’t allowed to film the event, GameXplain does a great job of offering an insight into how the game looks and plays.

First impressions are, thankfully, very favourable. According to them, the game looks great and the 3D really adds to the experience. Controls seem to be tricky at first but once mastered should offer intuitive gameplay, all helped by the incredibly useful map on the bottom screen.

Feel free to check it out:

  1. The impressions seems positive which is good. If the game gets good reviews at least then I can see it selling about a million copies. The thing is that I want it to sell more than that and I’m not sure what it needs beyond good reviews, good advertising and just being a great game to sell as well as prime 1 did or maybe even better than that.

    Could we see metroid explode in popularity like fire emblem or will it be the usual amount of sales?

    1. I remember when Fire Emblem Awakening was going to be the “Last Fire Emblem.” Then, as you stated, it exploded in popularity because the last installment was so great.

      Would be nice to have Metroid pull a Fire-Emblem instead of a StarFox.

        1. Commander. This weekend I’m booting up my Coms abord my ship and send you a transmission. Likely Late Sunday. FYI! I am just so busy, and every time I think about it, I’m away from my WiiU, and thanks to Nintendo not allowing me to access DMs via the smartphone interface, it makes it very inconvenient. X.x.

          Soon, worthy adversary, I’ll be transmitting.

      1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4; Awaiting Greatness on Nintendo Switch!}

        I know some might hate this idea but… As long as they don’t go overboard like in Awakening, maybe a little more sex appeal could help. A way they could pull it off without actually trying would be to have a 3rd person mode in Prime 4 with more gameplay of Samus not using her Power Suit.

        Wait! Not Awakening! Awakening was fine! I meant Fates!

    1. Those am2r fanboys will be the death of metroid I swear…metroid needs all the sales it can get for nintendo to keep it alive. More importantly, the creator of am2r, is actually hyped as hell for samus returns….yet people are still gonna boycott it -_-
