A New Label For Harry Potter Games Has Been Announced

A new label for Harry Potter Games, named Portkey Games, has been announced via Twitter and Pottermore today.  There has also been information that there will be new games for both console and mobile in the near future.

“You will soon be able to explore the wizarding world through a series of new mobile and console games – and you know we love any excuse to feel like actual, proper wizards.

So named because Portkeys transport wizards from place to place, Portkey Games will give Harry Potter fans the chance to be transported into the wizarding world and placed at the centre of their own adventure. The games will vary from mobile to console games, and will feature both new characters and – excitingly – could feature familiar characters ‘at different points in their lives’ from the Harry Potter stories.

As well as the familiar, you’ll also be able to visit new locations and explore new story elements, again, all inspired by the wizarding world.”

President of Warner Bros. Interactive, David Haddad, has advised that he is thrilled by the new launch and is looking forward to the games that will be released.

“With Portkey Games, we are thrilled to answer the fans’ requests for more games inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World,’ he says. ‘We are working with talented creators to build games that focus on player-generated stories, which will live alongside the magical universe created by J.K. Rowling.”

That’s all the detail we have at the moment, but we will keep you posted when further information is available.

  1. Anxious to hear what’s being planned. Harry Potter has such great potential as a video game with everything the world has to offer. Hopefully having a studio specifically dedicated to it will result in some fantastic games!

    1. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King {Sony+Nintendo=Sonyendo!}

      I want to smack Disney for giving Star Wars’s video game license to EA so bad.

          I figured you would have heard about that. Of course, they can only buy the entertainment related stuff as Disney can’t buy their news networks or sports networks. Broadcasting laws forbid it for what should be pretty obvious reasons.

          1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

            ||Now perhaps at last Marvel can acquire the rights to the Fantastic 4 and others, and for once make a solid movie…||

          2. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

            ||On the Movieverse, I am not satisfied with the direction DCEU is heading towards, they are turning it from a dark, serious tone into another juvenile nonsense…||

          3. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

            ||They have leaked the soundtrack to Justice League, thank you apes, they have officially ruined DCEU with this rubbish, it sounds nothing like the previous DCEU soundtracks and it is obvious that they turned it into another naive childish pile of garbage…||

    The best game in the series for me is Chamber of Secrets. I loved the open world aspect of it.

    Anyway, I’ve always wanted a series of Harry Potter games where we get to create our own character & basically be a student of Hogwarts with our own Voldemort for an enemy. Maybe the series could be called Hogwarts with each game subtitled Year One, Year Two, etc. As for when the game takes place, who cares! Any time period would be fine by me! Oh & it absolutely HAS to be open world with new areas to explore in each successive entry with areas from previous entries fully accessible & explorable so we can explore old & new areas. Essentially each game’s open world would get bigger with each entry. Same thing for spells & skills. You’d gain new abilities with each new entry while retaining the abilities from previous entries.
