We heard earlier today that the Nintendo Switch has become the fastest selling console of all-time in North America. We now have some software sales for the bigger Nintendo Switch titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
- Super Mario Odyssey – 2.88 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 2.64 million
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 2.4 million
- Splatoon 2 – 960,000
Where are the sales for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 & Fire Emblem Warriors? They are also Nintendo 1st party titles.
Anyway, now THESE are the sales that are more important than console sales.
Is anyone ever going to ask these developers some stuff about the Switch? Using Cartridges? Ditching what changed our lives on the Wii U? Ports of Wii U Games? Stuff like that.
Don’t forget that I will not have a Switch myself till the Next Official Mario Kart game for it with 16 NEW Nitro and Retro Tracks is announced to be coming. How lucky we are to have a New Mario Kart game on each and every Nintendo System and be impressed by it.
I thought Splatoon 2 had more appeal to the western audience.
I think that the Switch success will be held back by EU audience. I invested on it, but many italians, for example, do still see Sony as the standard de facto in gaming. Eventually EU audience isn’t that interested in the commuting aspect or Nintendo games, but third party support and graphic quality plays a more important role.
In Norway Nintendo are the biggest of those three. EU has a lot of preferences. Can’t really but us all in the same boat.
Norway is european but not in EU. Generally Sony wins in the EU, but eventually everything can change. Sony still eating on PS1 and PS2 success but actual offering didn’t met same success.
Yeah, we’re not EU but we’re still in the same marked because we have EØS………
And what does that even matter? We still gets our Nintendo ames through Grossostheim who then sends games to Bergsala who is the Nordic distributor of Nintendo games(which covers EU countries as well). It’s not like we get things directly from Japan or US by planes and doesn’t count as the European marked… It’s the same for every other game company as well. And again, we’re still a part of EU through EØS if that should matter to you some way.
Ok. I’m not ‘against’ Norway, if it ‘work’ in the EU without being in the EU it’s fine for me. If you come in the EU better for all I imagine.
I didn’t think you’re againt Norway, it just sounded like an ignorant statement you came with there. No, EU is not a good option for us :P Not that EØS is a good solution…
In fact I don’t know about Norway situation, Norway or Mali are the same for me. Unknown countries (except for a bit of history, Danish, Swedish, Norwegians under the same crown, etc. History is always more interesting than current news…).
I think that EU is the best bet for everyone, because little countries can be threatened by foreign powers (Russia, etc. who knows…) and everyone can cooperate to evolve/defend the other ones. Or eventually sink together… the risk is always there. I’m always for cooperation, especially for nations linked by past events.
That’s why we have NATO, which we’re a part of :P
Nintendo is*
In a lot of regions, Sony is the standard in gaming. Nintendo hasn’t been the standard for a very, very long time in those places. Even during the Wii gen, Sony was still the standard as it had a much better game attachment rate than Wii could have possibly hoped for. Whether Switch will change that is still up for debate.
But now the Switch is the best selling console of all time (in NA). It’s going to be the standard de facto of gaming, eventually not thanks to big publishers but Nintendo and indies (actually Nintendo opened a very big market for indies, who would even have thought about it). I bet it still isn’t the best selling console of all time in Europe.
Wii was a fad in my opinion.
