It was probably to be expected, but we have found out today that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo collection will work on the upcoming Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch. We are not entirely sure what the amiibo will bring to the table, but Nintendo will undoubtedly let us know nearer release.

You know, this is only a hypothesis but this could mean they plan to make the 4 Zelda Champions playable as they do have their own respective amiibo.
Speaking of which, I need to replace mine as it was lost in the fire… D:
They worked with the original Hyrule Warriors on the Nintendo Wii U so why would Nintendo need to confirm this? In that game they simply worked the same way the others did and granted Weapons for the respective characters. Unless they are adding in new functionality that wasn’t in the original game, I don’t see why they’d need to point this out.
Hopefully it’s a hint that they will do something special in the Deluxe Edition.
