ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki recently participated in a panel at this week’s ongoing GDC 2018 event. He explained that very few of the company’s prototypes actually turned into commercial products by the Kyoto-based company. He said that Nintendo looks for game ideas that have changed from existing trends and fashions.
“Very few of the prototypes that the R&D teams design at Nintendo blossom into commercial games,” Yabuki said. This is because Nintendo expressly looks for game ideas that deviate from existing game styles and fashions.”
