Nintendo is always trying to find ways to improve the Switch experience, and the latest attempt at this goal has been discovered. Nintendo has filed a patent for a hinged Joy-Con controller. This will allow you to move them more freely, and it even works when they are docked with the Switch console itself. The patent came with a bunch of images, so we’ve included them all in a gallery for you down below.
Oh, now this is interesting!

They’re already fragile enough from before… and what application is that meant for? I can’t even–

I’m trying to imagine what that would feel like with the current joycons and it’s just weird..

Yeah, I get it’s probably to get a better grip, or they’re making stuff for people that can’t use a controller the conventional way, but… this doesn’t seem the right way to do it xD Who knows though?

I’m not actually convinced that these are any more comfortable to hold, but won’t know without testing them.

I agree, it looks like would force you to put your palms on top of the direction buttons of something.

What an idea. Lets take the very expensive, extremely fragile controllers we’re already facing legal troubles over, and add another point where they can break.
