SEGA reveals a number of guest characters for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

The release date for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is drawing ever closer and SEGA has revealed a number of new guest characters who will feature in a variety of different sporting events. Japanese Nintendo reports that the new characters are as follows: Rosalina for Surfing, Doctor Eggman Nega for Karate, Rouge the Bat for Climbing, the pictured Diddy Kong for Rugby, Larry Koopa for Equestrian, Zazz for Table Tennis, Ludwig von Koopa for Fencing, and Jet the Hawk for Soccer. Other guest characters (presumably unplayable) include Toad, Cream the Rabbit, and Cheese. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be released on 8th November.

  1. Another M&Satog where Rouge is not a fully playable character. *Yawn* Oh well, she would be better off being fully playable in a winter olympic games title anyway so people can ship her in Ice skating.

  2. Can someone please tell me why they locking characters to certain events again Rosalina and other characters where guest in the rio version, and that was passible seeing as it was there first time and that 3ds can only handle so much the switch is powerful so this excuse really doesn’t cut it they really couldn’t tweak models a bit longer I mean heck majority of the characters animation are reuse from the rio version, I’m on the fence about this one cause it starting to feel like rio 2016 but a slightly better

  3. Why are they STILL continuing this retarded guest character stipulation!?

Just add them to the main roster (the one that hasn’t seen an update since 2009/2010)! Otherwise, it’s just more shovelware, like Just Dance.

  4. I agree with everyone else. These characters should just be part of the main roster. When the article title said “Guest characters” I thought it meant characters from other franchises. I was hoping for Link, Pac-Man, Mega-Man etc.
