Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition multiplayer mode is region-locked

The official game website for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition is live and in among the high res images, info about the ‘Lite’ version – effectively a demo of the game – and a general ‘what’s what’ for the upcoming title, is an interesting note about the online multiplayer mode:

*In online multiplayer mode, a player will only be matched with others in the region specific to player’s software.

Small print from the official game website

You’ll only be able to play with folk who are in the same region as you, and this goes for all versions of the game. Why this is the case is anyone’s guess but it’s also worth remembering that the game won’t feature an offline, local multiplayer mode which may be disappointing for some . You can read more about why the developer didn’t include offline multiplayer here.

    1. What are you talking about? What SE titles do you play? They often get delayed or miss their launch windows. It’s taken SE AGES from the day they announced Crystal Chronicles to now and its a gutted Gamecube port with bad online functionality. More recent example was how late the FFXIV (which is also SE if you’re unaware) patch was. So SE are certainly not “fast” at working on games.

Also your complaints may pre-date COVID but we’re living in a different world now. Lots of developers working from home is going to lead to some delays and longer turnover times. So if you’re mad now you might want to preemptively prepare yourself for the next year or so lol…. And it seems like you a bit mad because its always 5+ comments that say the same thing every other article. Mix it up?

      1. Usually I dont reply to people without a face, because to me, they dont have a case.
But since you want to talk, then let Grunty show you her walk.

Pikmin came out in 2001, and Pikmin 3 came out in 2013. So it took them 12 years to make Pikmin 3. Yet it took them 1 year to make Pikmin 2 after Pikmin 1?

Retro didnt so squat after DK Freeze.

What did they do after Metroid Prime 3 came out? Nothing.

Miyomoto said 5 years ago Pikmin 4 was nearly complete. Yet all I see is a $59.99 Pikmin 3 Delux.

Why are Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4 gap wider compared to Pikmin 1 and 2?

      2. Get that weak excuse out of here, those facts are off and bare.

If they really wanted to work on a sequel right away, they could and it would take my breath away.

Below are all the sequels relases in the same generation console (not just nintendo)

        Pikmin 1 and 2
        Galaxy 1 and 2
        TLOU 1 and 2
        Resident Evil 0,1,2,3,4
        Resident Evil 5,6,7
        Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver
        Banjo-kazooie and Tooie and DK64
        Conner’s Bad Fur Day
        Wind Waker and Twilight Princes
        Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2,3
        Super Mario 1,2,3

Look at all these sequels they made right away, so what’s your excuse please take my breath away.

Ubisoft and Retro could make another 2D Rayman Legends 2 or Donkey Kong in the same generation but Frozen Byte could make Trine 1,2,3, off the same generation? And Frozenbyte has way less money than Retro and Ubisoft.

7 years after Pikmin 3 and all we get is a Pikmin 3 clone with some added features.

  1. All.my hopes.and.dreams.are dead.and.buried.with.my.future.

Just when I thought SE couldn’t become more of a trash company they surprise me every time.
Every time new info pop up about anything SE related just make me hate that company more and more, sad part is SE (Square Soft when they were releasing actual good games when I was a child) used to be my favorite game developer.

  2. Connections with outside regions is rarely good in games anyway (especially peer to peer). The only downside is this will make matching with players harder after the game has been out for a while and the community shrinks.

  3. Its like they a remastering this game using all the bad things from Nintendo’s old playback and not realizing that region-locking is dumb. Sheesh!

      1. I take it you not satisfied with Wii U games being ported to Switch? Then why you replying to this witch?

It’s not my fault that Nintendo is lazy, dont get mad at me because the wait is crazy.

  4. Well this sucks even more. Was already annoyed they gutted the offline multilayer but the 4 people team I planned to go in on this won’t even work now… Given that 2 of em are yanks.

Won’t even be fun with 2 people as its one person carrying the crystal as they remove the moogle carrier as soon as more than one player is playing. So lots of picking up and dropping to get into fights that will be spread between 2 people to manage instead of a much more manic 4 players.

Cancelled my pre-order. This crap makes me want to quit FFXIV and not give them a penny anymore. SE have gotten so damm lazy

  5. Just wait on Barely Default II, now that’s a game I know is true.
Maybe that’s why this Final Fantasy game isnt what yall want, because unlike Tetro, they actually making other games you want(Barevly Default II and Trials of Mana).

  6. And what exactly did Retro do after Tropical Freeze was complete on the Wii U, set there didnt do nothing just like a person does when they catch the Flu.

Yall want to talk about Square Enix let’s get on Nintendo and Retro’s lazy selves.

    2015″Pikmin 4 is nearly complete.

  7. I already know PS5 games release, the devlopers also wont immediately work on the sequel and knowing that Sony said the PS5 generation will be shorter than the Ps4 generation. But for some stupid reason after a game is complete they dont do nothing for 5 or 10 years.

I hope the developers are immediately working on TLOU3. But we already know they ain’t doing nothing after 5 years. That’s why sequels of gaps just get wider and wider.

    1. At this point they might as well remove the comments sections, we can’t have an article without this nutjob spamming nonsense.

      1. Agreed, he’s basically ruining any chance at discussion. Also a pain to see comment numbers and you just know its going to be the same posts he throws up in every damm article. At least 8 of them, even if no one else is talking.

It’s just trolling at this point and I have no idea what Nintendo’s speed of making games has anything to do with region locking on a Square Enix title anyway. Its not even on topic…
