Story of Seasons developers talks about remakes

Japanese video game publication Dengeki Online has had the chance to chat with Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town director Hikaru Nakano and producer Dai Takemura. The site asked them about the possibility of more remakes of older titles heading to the Nintendo Switch. Mr. Takemura said that they are focussed on making new games. However, when asked if they would like to remake any games with current console technology, Mr. Nakano said that older titles such as Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and Harvest Moon DS, would be the ones that he would personally choose.

Are there any plans for other remakes or will that depend on the fan response to this title (Pioneers of Olive Town)?

Takemura: I’d say that’s the most important thing for us to keep making new games. After Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, producing Pioneers of Olive Town also felt like we were also in part also returning to the series’ roots. On the road to making something new, remakes are also a possibility.

Putting aside things like schedules, are there any other titles you’d like to remake with current technology?

Nakano: For me personally it would be titles like Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and Harvest Moon DS. So much more has become possible thanks to modern hardware performance and technology and I’d like to see what we can show off with it.

  1. Harvest Moon Ds was such a good game, but if they remade it I’d hope they would add the ability to go to town

  2. Please remake gbc harvest moon 3.. it was one of my fav!!! Or maybe try to merge 2&3 😍 I’d definitely buy them and even gift to my friends!!!

  3. I miss play harvest moon a wonderful life on the game cube and since it’s a out of date system now days it harder to not only find them but also the games the work on it. The switch is better in the way of it not just be stationary but able to be played every where. I reminder as a kid that I wished I could play my favorite game anywhere I went and not just at the house locked away form everyone and then again I also couldn’t wait to get back home so I could play it. The game helped me learn how to read and do math in ways that a teacher wasn’t able to do. It helped me relax and calm down when I was upset. I had a lot of enjoyment out the wonderful life and another wonderful life games on the GameCube and I do hope I get to see the reborn with the switch one day.

  4. I really want an animal parade remake or a port since its one of the very few harvest moon games I wasn’t able to play.

  5. Magical melody all the way. Just a port would be cool. Such a fun game to play with lots of small details. I loved how everyone got pissed when you accidentally throw a weed or something down on someone else’s property. I loved being able to buy the entire map pretty much and have houses and farms everywhere.
