E3 2021 will feature a special awards show on the final day

E3 2021 will soon be upon us later this month and it is either going to be a great digital event or a more muted show due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has hampered game development across the globe. The event kicks off on Saturday 12th June and the final day is Tuesday 15th June. The ESA has announced today that this year’s digital event will feature the Official E3 2021 Awards Show which will be broadcast on the last day of the gaming event. The event will see select journalists from major websites like IGN pick their favourite games which have been showcased during the event. Here’s the details:

“Selecting from titles that will be showcased during the four-day live E3 2021 broadcast that begins on Saturday, June 12, editors from IGNGameSpotPC Gamer and GamesRadar+ will determine the winners for the Official E3 2021 Awards Show. Results will be announced during the last day of the broadcast on Tuesday, June 15.”

“For this year’s event, we are collaborating with editors at some of the world’s leading video game media outlets to create the Official E3 2021 Awards Show, recognizing the show’s most anticipated games,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President & CEO of the ESA. “The broadcast is going to be packed with exciting announcements and reveals, and celebrating innovative publishers and developers is an ideal way to close E3 2021.”

“The esteemed media panel will focus on selecting the “Most Anticipated” game of E3 2021, as well as recognizing “Most Anticipated” titles from each participating publisher and developer.

The E3 live broadcast will be hosted by Greg MillerJacki Jing and Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez, and as well as featuring new and upcoming game reveals, will also include publisher press conferences, developer interviews, panel discussions and much more.”

      1. I’m honestly not looking into the switch pro rumors/leak, I mean the switch lite was also rumor to be at e3, but got it’s on reveal trailer a few months after that, I don’t even remember the last time a new Nintendo console was reveal at e3.

  1. I looking forward to E3. I hope Nintendo and Sony have something surprising to show. What if Nintendo surprises us with Pikmin 4? I dont know. I think they are going to show either BOW2, Pokemon or Splatoon 3. I’m not sure about Switch Pro but I’m hoping they show it this week since the resources are too reliable

  2. Oh god! How many of these are gonna be actual journalists & how many are gonna be activists who just go for the most politically motivated game? If Anita Sarkeesian is one of the judges, I’m out!

  3. I’m sure we’ll be shown a bit more about Mario Golf: Super Rush since that comes out like 10 days after E3, they’ll give it one more pre-release push.

They HAVE to have something to show for BotW2 at this point; that’s their biggest thing right now. I’ll be very surprised and disappointed if after two years there’s still nothing on it.

Smash Ultimate Fighter’s Pass vol. 2 DLC fighter 5 will definitely be revealed; maybe fighter 6 will as well but I’d say that’s a minimal chance.

We might see a bit more of Splatoon 3, and we’ll be given a Q2 2022 release window for it.

As always, there will be a handful of new games announced, with various release dates between August 2021 and March 2022.

And, there will of course be a surprise announcement after they say “That’s all, folks! … …Well, actually, we have one more thing to show you. Please take a look.” No idea what it will be, but with every E3, I’m hoping it’s F-Zero.

  4. I guess the whole “this company/developer wins E3” will finally make sense now.

But knowing Nintendo, they’ll probably pride their sales from non-internet casuals over competition against the rest of the VG industry.
