Datamining finds Shin Megami Tensei V could be a temporary Switch exclusive

It would appear as though the recently released Shin Megami Tensei V could be coming to other platforms in the future. The game, which released on Friday to positives reviews, has been datamined and target platforms shown within the system files include the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC. This information lines up with the GeForce Now leak a while ago, which stated that the game is destined for other platforms. As it stands nothing has been confirmed by Atlus, but if this changes, we will certainly let you know.

  1. It would be kinda of a slap in the face if Atlus doesn’t bring Persona to Switch after saying they believe in console exclusives, then the series Nintendo has been helping with their marketing and advertising is the one they deside to all of the sudden pull the rug from.

    1. Hearing this, & knowing it has slight performance issues on some areas, makes me want to wait for ps4 version, but I’d also probably like to play it while in bed, so I’m torn. I have a huge backlog, like most these days, so waiting isn’t a huge issue, but I’m excited for it, so the wait may be harder. I definitely agree this would be a slap in the face, if true. If switch owners got persona, it would be fine, but for the system crossover to only go in one direction would be a bad look, IMO.

i would LOVE to play a persona 4 remaster on switch, but i doubt that will happen. I have it on vita, but as i get older, that screen is far too tiny. At least in switch, i would have the option to play in docked mode if there were things too small to see in handheld mode.

    2. It would be “all of a sudden” if it’s a time exclusive they aren’t surprising Nintendo they’d have know WELL in advance.

      1. It’s “all of a sudden” for Atlus, after over a decade that they have rejected making all those games multiplatform. “For Atlus to make this decision on this game, after all of those years,” may be a different way to say that, but i understood what he meant.

  2. I was contemplating this game, but a bit hesitant to drop money on a Switch game. Knowing that it’s gonna be multiplat, I guess I’ll wait for an Xbox version.

Yes I did notice Xbox’s absence in the list, but I’m boycotting Playstation and my PC is a tool, not a toy. So Atlus will just have to miss out on my money until they realize there are people in this world who want to play JRPGs on a platform which respects the customer.

    1. If you don’t want to spend money only anything that isn’t Xbox, then why not spend time on a Xbox news site instead and return when you think Nintendo changes the practices. It’s not like you’re going to miss any big announcements since if you are interested in at least the Nintendo games with quality, you’ll find out about them by skimming through a Nintendo Direct.

      1. @Lucky I think what 狐ちゃん was saying is that they prefer playing multiplatform games on their Xbox system as they use Switch as a first party machine, which is common. I could be wrong though as I am not 100% familiar with all the readers previous comments :)

      2. I plan to get Metroid Dread, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, possibly Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and some other exclusives I’ve been meaning to get round to. I just don’t like the Switch hardware/platform, nor buying a downgraded version of a game at the same price as a better version.

  3. I really hope ATLUS starts doing away with console exclusives completely now, I’ve been hoping for Persona 5 Royal to make the jump to PC for awhile.

There’s really no reason not to, P4G sold extremely well on PC and I’ve zero doubt that P5 would do even better.

  4. I really wish Atlus would consider porting Golden to a console before considering any more ports. I don’t wanna get a Vita just for it, and I still don’t trust my PC to run something like it without performance issues.
