We have just had Black Friday which saw a number of video games discounted across all-formats in the United Kingdom. The game which came away with the most sales during the sales period was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which shot to No.1 on account of boxed-software discounts and the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe console bundle. Last week, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond was No.1 and this week it dropped five places to No.6 after a 57% drop in sales week-on-week. Pokemon Shining Pearl also dropped from No.2 to No.11 after a 58% tumble in sales. Here’s the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending 27th November.

If anyone ever wonders why there’s no new Mario Kart yet… this is why.
How in the world is it still consistently in the top 10?
You’re absoluely spot on.
Im tryng to figure out if it can beat out GTA5. But I have a feeling that was in the top 10 (or 20) for a 8 years or something
At this rate, it’ll surpass the Switch in sales.
Mario Kart 8? Wow.
See? THIS is why you don’t always get your immediate sequel. This series sells, so when the next system is out, they’ll release MK9 on that because it will help move units.
Yeah but that doesn’t explain Luigi’s Mansion, Astro Chain, PIKMIN, Donkey Kong, Metroid or Starfox more than a decade sequel. They don’t sell like MK9. Where are there immediate sequels?
