Japan: Nintendo has acquired land adjacent to Nintendo HQ for $40M

Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa, has confirmed via a press release that the company has now acquired the land opposite Nintendo headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, for $40million. Nintendo will be acquiring and utilising the land by using it for additional resource and development and the current completion date for the build is December 2027.

  • Site area 10,028.55㎡, Bidding Price 5,000,000,000 Yen
  • Facility name : Corporate Headquarters Development Center, Building No. 2 (tentative name)
  • Objective of the facility : R&D reinforcement
  • Floor area : Approximately 38,000㎡
  • Planned completion date : December 2027
  • Usage of the land: Along with the R&D investments and capital investments, Nintendo believes acquiring and utilizing this land will carry an important role on reinforcing its R&D.

  1. Why pay 40 million for some new property when 1st
    they don’t make many sequels other than Zelda and Mario immediately anyways(Starfox, Pikmin, DK, F Zero, Astral Chain)?

    And they will continue with this same method anyway so why get excited? I been waiting nearly 7 years for Pikmin 4, 10 years for DK.
