Europe: The best-selling video games during first half of 2022

Games Industry has announced the best-selling games of 2022 so far in Europe and of course there’s plenty of great games in the top ten. The best-selling game of the year sop far is the crucially acclaimed Elden Ring which is currently on track to scoop the Game of the Year award from a number of gaming outlets, though we shall have to wait and see what the second half of 2022 is like. There are three Nintendo first party games in the top ten (it should be noted that Nintendo doesn’t usually reveal download figures, so these are physical) and they are Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Sports. Altogether 76.1 million games were sold during the first six months, a rise of 13.5% over the same period in 2021. Germany overtook the UK as the biggest gaming market in Europe, with the UK relegated to second. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling games console, but stock of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are still low.

  1. Pretty excited about GTA 6, not a fan of GTA online i perfer the 1p campaign. I remember on Red Red Redemption online PS3 i was max prestige and had the zebra donkey mount and all gold weapons in my loadout. Not really a fan of R* games online because .. money drops, lag switches, jailbroke acc’s with modded loadouts. But mostly im not a fan of R* games online because the dev’s don’t do anything about the crap servers, or even acknowledge all the shady stuff. They have a report option, although im not sure why.
    I perfer playing legitimately.

    1. Or maybe it speaks to how fifa has become crap, that barely brits care about?
Don’t know what that Pokemon game is, but guessing it is not a “main” game?
Though nice to see Elden Ring performing that well.
