Steam has revealed in its patch notes for the latest Steam Client Beta that the PC gaming platform will include full support for the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons along with the Nintendo Switch Online classic controllers. The system already supports the updated Xbox Series X|S controllers and the PS5 DualSense. You can also use other older controllers with the platform such as the Xbox One controller and Sony’s DualShock 4 controller. Here’s the patch notes for the latest Steam Client Beta.
Steam Input
- Added support for Nintendo Joy-Con controllers, both individually as a mini-gamepad and combined into pairs
- Improved support for the Nintendo Online classic controller
I’m surprised it took them this long to implement those controllers but it’s better late than never. I think it’s cool they are adding more controller support for more options as I’ve been using the Switch pro controller when I’m using Steam. Also, i like that the Switch pro controller has half the battery life of the Wii U pro controller unlike the Xbox One and DualShock 4 which last about 1/8 of the Switch pro controller and this is coming from someone who uses those controllers.
